Wtf, I expected high numbers of course but this is kinda insane. Goddamn....

This is definitely a stellar performance for Splatoon and Switch!

After week 37

2022 - 3.16 million
2021 - 3.78 million
2020 - 3.77 million
2019 - 2.08 million
2018 - 1.68 million
2017 - 1.68 million

Nearly 2 million at retail! 🤯 And all the evergreens (sans AC) charting makes me think they got a bunch of new adopters with the release?

What’s the story with the PS and Xbox hardware numbers?

Xbox I don't know, but maybe Sony is holding back for the price increase?

2M retail is insane for Splatoon 3

Also Switch with a 98% of console sales in Japan is insane. It doubled the last week of sales of the Switch Family

I'm so happy Nintendo Switch do so well in its 5 years & 6 months. Truly can exceed 120 million units end of this year 🧡

Square-Enix Creative Business Unit III is probably nervous too. FF XVI is going to be lucky to come close to the XV initial sales of 690k (on PS4) with the PS5 sitting at under 2m units by end of the year (and no clear idea of how much of that is going scalpers but it appears to be a lot based on software sales so far), and currently underperforming the PS4's performance in the region.

This weekend is going to be fun 😂

EDIT: Just for fun, dug up Media Create numbers XV's launch:

PS4 was at 3.75M by based on the archived data over at IB. Sony's a long way off from that number with the PS5 and unless there's a miracle they won't be anywhere close in 2023.

EDIT2: XIII launch was closer to 1.5M units but the PS3 was in the 4-5M units range by that point. That still does not paint a favorable picture for XVI's opening numbers in Japan.

I find it kinda hilarious the gap between 1st and 2nd best selling game. 1,934,680 vs....12,605 like I know it's a new release of a high caliber vs. an evergreen, but the gulf is astounding and also absurd to be slightly amusing.

More like new evergreen vs. old evergreen. Splatoon 2 stuck around for a very long time.

Splatoon 2 has charted in every single weekly Famitsu top 30 from Famitsu Week 30, 2017 to Famitsu Week 30, 2022. :) And so far was only absent during this year's Week 31 and Week 37.

live a live is holding way better than Xenoblade 3, still in the top30 after a few weeks is impressive for a JRPG

Some major retailers have cut the price for LAL, whereas Xenoblade 3 has retained its price pretty well despite there seemingly being a healthy amount of stock still out there.
