I guess New Years is a time for board games? All Switch Top 10

Hardware:
Switch family (includes OLED Lite and OG) 148,691(this week), 344,617 (YTD)
Switch OLED 79,218 (this week), ???? (YTD)
PS5 (all varieties) 10,677 (this week), 57,354 (YTD)
Xbox Series 263 (this week), 786 (YTD)

Japan is running out of Xbox Series, send help, Phil! Anyway, Switch had a very decent week and PS5 had a decent week too.

Sony with these random weekly high restocks and back to trash shipments. Reeks of "see we care about Japan [for this particular week]!" and then business as usual. I really really wonder how Square Enix is looking at the FF16 exclusivity deal now. They get what they deserve in that regard, I guess.

I think Square Enix will do a crossgen release with PS4 and PS5 SKUs. (Day 1 PC too if they were smart)

Sony is ouch....

Kinda surprised at the hold for Switch. I wonder when the saturation drop will kick in.

I remember I bought into PS5 because of FF16 exclusivity and I thought we would get a lot of Japanese support for the system. I am not a fan of Horizon and GoW and things are just looking flat out dire for PS5 right now. I get it, those games are big games, but Sony is currently betting everything on everyone wanting those games, which I do not think is the case. I think they also know this, which is why they are on the verge of introducing their new subscription service.

I wish they would at least try to do something to hype up PS5 owners that isn't a random blogpost showing more Horizon gifs.

It's only slightly down from same week last year. (And 2022 is ahead of 2021 so far) PS5 also slightly fell more behind PS4 launch-aligned but any 20k week soon would help it catch up.

Everybody's favorite chart from Install Base's Hiska-kun !

Triple post...Persona 6 as a PS5 exclusive is completely expected but yet, it feels shocking.

Who would have thought the mighty PS5 would be lagging behind the WiiU after it's first Christmas.

Thinking about all the PS5's gone elsewhere and the amount still in Japan is probably way below the Vita

Pretty good numbers for Switch, only a bit over 10% down from this week in 2021, when it was coming off it's peak calendar year.

It may be nearly 5 years old, but it can still gallop like a champion.

Buying a PS5 for Japanese support while you dislike games like GoW and Horizon seems like a bizarre decision to me and something you could have prevented.

to be fair, there won't be many JP games skipping playstation. they'll have to be on there to maximize their returns

Yeah I'm aware, it's still gonna have the Personas and Dragon Quests and what have you but it's mostly that + in combination with not liking their style of first party games, probably best to have waited a couple years in that case then.

I agree and I regret it every moment. It’s just so hard to sell it away knowing FF16 (and potentially persona 6) will be exclusive for it.

at least it's better than buying a PS3 for Final Fantasy Versus 13, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Final Fantasy 7 remake

I don’t get it, why is everyone at the other place osing their mind at Nate “leaking” persona 6 being a PS5 exclusive. Didn’t he clearly state on his show that everything after a certain time stamp in the conversation is purely a prediction. Did anyone actually listen to the show? Did he confirm elsewhere that was a leak and not a prediction?

The other place being Era? Install Base? If it's Era, the Sony fanboys would obviously love the vindication of the PlayStation brand. Otherwise, it's that PS5 software sales in Japan have been abysmal so it might bomb with domestic audience and do great overseas in Europe and the Americas.

Either way I don't even think it's that shocking of a prediction so I'm surprised at the reaction.

How much has Super Bomberman R done if you combine the low price version with the full price version on switch? how bad did the PS4 version do?

Combining the two SKUs of BOTW puts it at #10 on the charts, nearly 5 years after release.
Truly incredible.

3D World will cross a million soon, poggers

It's weird to think of a 3D Mario platformer as an underdog but ever since it was stuck on the Wii U it's nice to see it get the love it deserves on Switch
