it's specifically to promote the upcoming sequel, which also features Jerma reprising his role from this game.
i'm not too sure on how the collaboration started. but Alientrap (the developer) has had him voicing characters for them as far back as Apotheon.
 
Yeah it is! Fun and challenging game, I watched my roommate play it for a few hours, SHMUP as all hell with a real slick sci-fi GUI.

Also, one of the Epic free games this week is THE EVIL WITHIN. Next week, THE EVIL WITHIN 2. (y)
