Steam 505 Games is reviving the forgotten F2P online mech battle game "Hawken" on May 17th

notably, this wasn't the first time an attempt was made to bring it back. there was a fan-made modification that got the game working offline back in 2020. but this is a fully official version.

it's been retooled however. the original version was a PvP shooter, while this new "reborn" edition focuses on PvE combat. at least in it's early access state.
"By going PvE, it lowers the barrier to entry a little bit with people who might see a PvP game and get discouraged, just because they think they don't have the skill set needed to come in," said senior producer Brian Decker when I asked about the shift to single player, so 505 is "focusing on the PvE, the narrative, the world," at least for now.
 
I have a vague memory of trying to play this for like five minutes back in the day.

Ooooooh i used to play this one! Man, Talk about a blast of the past.

Shame it's not being ported to consoles, but i'll take it
