Sony Pictures Entertainment is currently developing ten more PlayStation titles for film and TV, according to group chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra. The news comes via an investor presentation Vinciquerra gave on Thursday.

In the presentation, Vinciquerra stressed the group’s desire to continue to pull from Sony’s pre-existing IP, not just from film, but from music and video games. The information follows a report showing that Netflix and Sony are currently in the process of creating an original series based on Horizon Zero Dawn.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise, given Sony’s catalog of PlayStation properties to be turned into film and TV productions in the works. There is a God of War series likely coming to Amazon Prime Video as well as a Gran Turismo project in development. Sony has also announced the Ghost of Tsushima movie written by Chad Stahelski and a Twisted Metal series currently in development. It’s also likely that the group will order a sequel of the box office hit Uncharted, since it sold so well and the director has expressed hope for another film.

EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, whose most recent video-game-to-film collaboration Uncharted grossed more than $400 million in global box office earlier this year, are getting behind the wheel for a movie adaptation of the iconic driving game Gran Turismo.

The project is in very early development, we hear. Neill Blomkamp is being eyed to direct.

The plot of the film project is being kept under wraps, but the news comes as rumors surfaced today that a TV adaptation of the racing game is also being developed and aimed at a streaming service. Those rumors are not accurate, we hear.
There is a rich history behind the game, created by Polyphony and Kazunori Yamauchi in 1997 and hailed as one of the most authentic driving simulator in its class for its focus on precise graphics, driving physics and attention to detail of its cars, which players would build and race. The series has sold more than 85 million copies, with the most recent edition, Gran Turismo 7, hitting shelves in March for PS 4 and PS 5.

A Horizon Zero Dawn TV series is on the way from Sony and Netflix

Sony is reportedly working on a Horizon Zero Dawn series with Netflix, according to a report from Japanese tech and software analyst David Gibson. The news comes the same day Sony Pictures presented its 2022 business segment briefing, though the Horizon series is not mentioned in the presentation documents.

This production with Netflix would join the ranks of many other PlayStation properties that Sony is currently developing as series or movies at various streaming platforms and networks. Among the most notable are the God of War series likely coming to AmazonPrime, as well as a Gran Turismo series that’s in development.
