I have the same time expectations as you:
• Expectations: SMTV Maniax
Hopes: SMTV Apocalypse (a 1.5 game with a better storytelling that wasn’t rushed)
Fears: SMTV with some new stuff here and there for the sake of a multiplat re-release
 
I don't get nearly as hyped for Directs as I used to, but this is the first time in what feels like a long while that I'll actually be able to maybe watch it live.

maybe MP4 teaser, but it doesn't seem likely

...plus the latest indies to graduate from steam early release. We will watch these hoping for MP4. Then hope dies again.

Atlus being Atlus could just release a SMT V Complete, consisting only of the original game plus all the OG DLC. However, on top of that, there's new DLC you can pay for :D
 
I have Mario Wonder, Mario RPG, Fashion Dreamer, Wario Ware and more to already look forward to playing but I am still so excited to see what else they got cooking! Seriously, this is SNES levels of output insanity and I am totally here for it.

  • Gunstar Heroes 3

  • NSO Premium will get a release of the now-realized and completed third Oracle game for GBC

  • God Hand 2

If a single one of these is wrong, I'm throwing my Switch out the window

For the rest of the year. I didn’t think they had enough to last for 40 minutes. I guess we will see. I’m not expecting anything I would be interested in unless they are announcing Pikmin 4 DLC.
 
I don't think we get that much Mario Wonder in this. They've already done previews and a full 30 minute event for it.

Just like I said in General Discussion, Direct would air on the 14th because that's when I wouldn't be able to catch it live. I'll probably have to avoid Fami for an extra day haha

I’m expecting surprises/announcements beyond this calendar year, probably going into the first quarter of 2024, but we’ll find out soon enough. They tend to reveal things beyond what they initially state.

I have a feeling that WWHD, TPHD and Xenoblade Chronicles X will be crossgen titles becauese of how much they can do graphics and performance-wise to showcase the Switch 2’s power, so I’m expecting those three games to be in a Direct in the future

I feel you. It's been a weird pre-direct season. Avoiding any and all discussions really took away the joy from it. Directs to me are like a prolonged gift: the speculating and hype 1-2 weeks prior, watching the direct itself, reading everyone's impressions and watching reaction videos after it aired

I'll unfortunately be in a meeting at this time but I'm eager for this one.

Some basic predictions:

"Lock" tier:
  • Splatoon 3 Side Order tease - Still no date though
  • Splatoon 3 next Splatfest or Big Run event dated
  • Mario Kart 8 BCP Wave 6 tease
  • Whatever smoke (DLC?) is coming from Smash Bros (mystery amiibo restocks)
  • Update on Mario RPG focused on enhancements and content additions (it's a Nintendo and Squaresoft RPG, it's going to have new content in the re-release)
  • Another “Untitiled Peach Game” tease

"I can see it" tier:
  • Metroid Prime 4 - I don't think this is cross-gen and Nintendo will live up to their original promise
  • Mario Wonder Expansion Pass announced
  • EPDK - Sure, why not?
  • Something Kirby teased to close out the system as is tradition
  • NES Remix 1 & 2 port for Fami 40 - shadowdrop
  • GameCube Shadowdrop - Luigi's Mansion or Metroid Prime 2
  • New SaGa game announced
  • Something from Team Asano - either a new game or DQ 3 2D-HD
  • Dungeon Encounters 2 - do we dare believe?

"Unlikely" tier:
  • TotK expansion pass - I choose to believe Aonuma that they're done with the game

"Not Happening" tier:
  • Anything NSO related - This will be covered in an October announcement as XP subs are going to lapse in late October
  • Switch 2 - Get out of here with that

I don't think the language is worth scrutinizing. E3 2021 not only is a weird-but-meaningless outlier in saying "software" instead of "games" or "titles" in its description, but the use of exclusively was also misleading: there technically was new hardware announced in the form of the Zelda Game & Watch.
