News Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe announced for Nintendo Switch, launching February 24th, 2023

Is this confirmed to be Vanpool? If it is, you have to imagine that they'll bring over the 3DS games eventually.

Dunno what they'd title Triple Deluxe though, since they can't use the Deluxe suffix like they did here. Kirby: Triple Deluxe Deluxe would be a pretty cute title though.
Kirby: Quadruple Deluxe

I really liked this one when we played it back in the days.

My guess is that it will sell at least 2-3 times more than on the Wii.

Yeah, it's not a serious thing, but I just didn't find it all that engaging to use the super abilities because of how tightly the level design constrains their use
Really? I don't find it all that different from the usual linear level design of the rest of the game.

The point of the game more-or-less is to go on a rampage with your abilities, and the Super Abilities let you do so with an even more flashy, impressive ability.

I liked Star Allies better since it brought back the helper system from Kirby Super Star.

I do think Star Allies has the best ability mechanics in the series, but it has the worst level design as most agree.

I know they had to design Star Allies as multiplayer first and foremost, but given how action-packed Kirby can be, perhaps multiplayer doesn't work as a core Kirby element, one-time/few-time or not.

Huh. Neat! I enjoyed Return to Dream Land back on Wii but never 100% completed it. So this will be a nice way to try it again. Beyond graphics and the new ability, the main levels don't seem changed much, which isn't a problem.
Ditto! Same plan here. Been meaning to go back to 100% RTDL so it'll be great to do so in this version instead.

If we’re going back to Wii platforners I would’ve preferred DKC Returns. Doubt I’ll drop full price on this one.
One day, surely it will come. I can't wait for the definitive 60 fps HD version with no shake-to-roll mechanic. I like Wii motion controls but that one was super uncomfy wrist-wise for me.

This is the only modern 2D Kirby by HAL I haven’t played. I just figured I’d never get to play it, so this remake feels like it was made just for me.

Also this is a remake, not a remaster. The visual difference is stunning:

RtD is a top 5 Kirby game for me, in large part because of how fantastic it's campaign is for both single player and multiplayer. If you have local friends/family to play with and haven't tried RtD, you owe it to yourself to get RtDD.

I wonder if it’ll include the challenge mode asset reuser from Kirby Dream collection

This is so crazy because the original was already pretty good looking

I hope Epic Yarn also makes its way to Switch. I know it got the 3DS port but that system doesn’t really do it’s gorgeous art style any justice. Get that game in HD, Nintendo!

Look how they ruined Dedede, he used to be a happy bird man and now he's a weird blue blob with a bizarrely small face. At least everything else looks like a slight or solid visual improvement

I do love Epic Yarn. My first priority is getting all the mainline Kirby games on the Switch but I do hope we get KEY too.

Ok HAL, this was a great announcement
But now you're going to remake planet robobot right? RIGHT? PLEASE

Also I was curious as to what the Japanese title would be, considering the original was called Hoshi no Kirby Wii, and it’s Hoshi no Kirby Wii Deluxe. Which is sort of charming to me; I can’t think of any other Switch game that straight up has Wii in the name.

This is probably one of the more overlooked mainline Kirby's because it released when interest in the Wii was long gone. However from the history of the franchise, this is a hugely important entry since it was essentially the start of the modern era of Kirby that led into Triple Deluxe, Robobot, and Star Allies.

To me this is definitely a top 5 Kirby game so I think people will enjoy this a lot who have yet to play it. It's also really interesting from a game development standpoint since this was the next main Kirby from HAL in an 11 year gap after Kirby 64, so you can get a sense of all the content they made for different canceled Kirby games in that time.

Only just realised by going on the eShop that they want £50 for this. Well that isn't happening. It didn't even cost that much on the Wii when it was new.

Such a gorgeous remake. You love to see it!

The only weird part is some of the enemies. Like, Whispy Woods looks very... It's like there's no detail. It just stands out against how amazing 99% of everything else looks.

I never played this one specifically, but seeing those mini games brought me back to my childhood. I feel like there were modes like that in the GBA kirby games, because they looked familiar. I remember the samurai and frying pan things from other games, at least.

And so, Kirby continues being one of the most consistent releases on Nintendo consoles. The puff can't be stopped.
