First story mode boss was fun and I couldn't stop laughing when
you throw little buddy into the ink vaccum. I feel kinda bad for chucking him about so much lol
The gurgling got me good.

Also, from the little I've seen online, it's funny how so many people instantly get the idea to chuck him in there before the hint even shows up.

Seems tomorrow or Sunday for my copy. Ah well. More time to finish the week's Halo challenges and watch the first two episodes of season 3 of Stargirl.

Sprinted to the end of Hero Mode in almost exactly 5 hours, so I can now live free of fear of spoilers. Feeling mighty heroic this very moment!

Final boss fight from the first Splatoon and the home stretch of Octo Expansion remain unbeaten. The over the top cutscenes in this one were a riot and thanks to them I was grinning ear to ear through what's not a very good fight nonetheless. Still lots of levels left to play, because the game lets you skip so damn much, which means judgment on the whole package will have to wait a good while.
Just completed every level and yeah I completely agree on the comparison to Octo Expansion. I hope the DLC goes in a new direction 'cause I really felt like I was just playing Octo Expansion again sometimes (with a less amazing ending). Still had a lot of fun with it and it's almost as good in itself but I'm not sure I'll remember it as fondly as Octo E.

Finished the campaign last night. It might be my favorite campaign in a Splatoon game! Octo Expansion is still up there though. Got plenty more missions to finish, so we'll see how I feel after beating more of them!

iirc you had to reach b- in any mode

edit: just saw that you prestiged lmfao

that must be a bug
Btw I've read that it's actually just because I haven't played the 1st mandatory turf war match yet (you get the data import rewards after that). Which is weird but ok I guess.

So the end to the Splatoon 3 buying saga: the truck delivering the game never showed up. The order got moved to...some day in the future, they weren't specific. All this after waiting three hours after work for it.

I said screw it, went to GameStop, and even got the preorder stickers from them. Fucking finally.

...though my partner didn't get their copy either, so they're playing it right now. It's only fair.

:(

Never bothering with Best Buy again. Still waiting. Day is almost over and no email. This digital code is a surprise gift for my daughter too. This sucks. I’m going to get my own copy straight from eshop.

Honestly, Best Buy is usually good for me. That's why this was so dang baffling.

Well on a positive note, I can report that my partner is adoring the game so far! They love how the game feels (the gyro change makes a load of difference) and the new vibe of this one. As someone who loved 1 but had issues with 2, 3 made a great impression on them right away.

I've always gone to bat for Splatoon's music but I feel like they elevated it into another level with this game. There's just so much going on here in terms of the soundtrack, the tracks have such good hooks and super punchy arrangements. The single player campaign's music in particular has been utterly phenomenal, the successive leaps in quality between the base Splatoon 2 campaign, Octo Expansion, and now Return of the Mammalians has been huge.

I'm having some trouble with the stealth level where you have limited ink and the flying hairy octarians keep shooting balloons at me...

I'm on World 5 (skipped 4), how close am I to the end? One can spoiler tag if necessary.

Edit: Also can I say fuck that rail grind mission with the arrows. Grinded a six full times and still get my ass handed to me. Brutal. Otherwise the game has been smooth-sailing.

I'd guess about an hour? If you crit-path it? I did start to finish in five hours, skipping everything I could. The game makes it obvious when you're entering the final stretch.

I've finished the campaign. I've tried the secret level after the campaign like 15 times but I've given up. Really good campaign imo.

Getting bodied by a baby in Tableturf Battle. Where are my p2w booster packs?

Open can be done with friends, meaning you may come up against pre-mades or get drafted to fill in a pre-made as a solo player. Series are randos only. Rank-up battles must be done in Series, though you can still gain rank points to qualify for a rank-up battle in Open.

Buck off!
But one of them has a strike system and the other dosen't. I'm a bit confused about that. Is it higher risk, easier to rank up?

I'm really bummed that most of the roller specials are lame. Fingers crossed Krak-on Roller comes in the next update with something fun.

Dam the campaign is so good so far. Will probably dive into the card game tomorrow, and maybe a little bit of online

I think I've finished everything in Hero Mode except for clearing every level with every weapon. Then I was like "I'll play one game of Salmon Run before I stop." So I ended up playing like 20 games of Salmon Run. It's better than ever! I really like the new ink colors too.

I added everybody in the spreadsheet:

A couple FCs in here didn't work, though.

Edit: Since I can't tell if there's a way to click the embed and actually get to the page in order to edit, here's the link if anyone wants to add their FC.

I did it and not even sure how I got the very last targets if not shooting in panic.

I'd like to add my FC but as an Aussie I'd probably have awful connection with 99% of you, haha.

Just beat the post game level. Damn that was hard. Reminded me of a 3D Mario final level.

Wow, 100 levels in the season pass catalog seems insane to me. I'm never going to complete any of the catalogs lol. Beyond the bonus for the first match of the day, it seems rather slow to grind to me for something that you need to complete in 3 months.

I can’t figure out how to join a friend. My wife is in the list of friends in the lobby but she’s greyed out. I’ve tried creating a room and nothing changes - she sees my character as greyed out in her list as well…

The Carbon Roller seems really promising since I feel Zipcaster will be a strong special (and it satiates my love of grappling hook mechanics), but it's really tricky to learn.

Maybe it's a level restriction ? Most features are locked until level 4. Are you both level 4 ?

I had my Online status set to no one. Not sure when I did that :( but that’s probably the issue.

Edit: both her and I had it set to “no one.”

Edit 2: everything works now! also haven’t seen a communication error in a bit but that’s likely a coincidence

Can't believe I was able to play Salmon Run in 2 without egg-throw the last 2 years. Such a small addition but makes the experience so much better. Also, has any of us here made it to S rank?

Anybody else having communication errors? It’s been pretty shit for us tbh. We’re on Wifi but I’ve played Mario Kart, Splatoon 2 and Pokémon Unite in the past without issue
I can only speak for myself and my friends who I played online with for most of yesterday, but the only connection issues we had were when someone lost power at their place (Can only speak for self, but I was on Wifi).

You should be able to join a friend's room after you play one turf war match (same as Salmon Run, after you try it once).

So I had an issue where I couldn't get into any online game with the error code 2318-0532 (and I thought it was because I wasn't using my main connection), but someone suggested restarting the console and that worked lol. So if anyone else has the same issue, restart :)

Yeah I’ve since sorted it. It’s because my wife and I both had our online status set so nobody could see it. We just played an hour of Salmon Run :]

Wow, turf war is brutal as a newcomer. Just played a match where someone with a bow sat on top of a platform in Mahi Mahi Resort, and no one on my team could get to them the whole match.

This is a really disappointing sequel that still hasn’t fixed the fundamental problems with Splatoon, specifically the framework for how matches are entered and run. It’s ridiculous that matches still end when someone disconnects instead of backfilling like every other game, that you can’t swap load outs in a match like every other game, that the game is still so plagued with connection issues that just terminate matches, and as far as I can tell you get nothing when that happens.

I’ve put in about 3-4 hours since yesterday and I feel I’ll bounce off it as quickly as I did Splatoon 2. Map rotation still being locked to 2 maps means that longer play sessions feel extremely repetitive quickly. It’s fine to lock this in ranked but makes no sense in casual. Progression is still really slow, there’s still no option to unlock the Y axis for the analog stick when using gyro, the lobby system is unhelpful if you are trying to join friends in an unplanned manner. At least Salmon Run is open all the time now which… thanks? 5 years and $60 later.

All of these flaws were forgivable in Splatoon 1 because of the limited hardware and new concept but it’s hard to overlook them at this point. I’m really disappointed.
