It's totally worth it for me (especially when considering the AC expansion is included), but I completely understand that not everyone will see the same value in it.

So what else in terms of DLC could they add? Smash FP1+2 to NSO for those who haven't bought it yet? Pokemon SwSh expansion for those who haven't bought it yet? Would it piss off a great deal more of the owners of said DLC?

Past stuff? They could add

  • Pokemon Sword/Shield
  • Smash Fighter Pass
  • Age of Calamity

Next year? I could see Splatoon 3 DLC being attached to this.

There must be other (cheaper) tiers excluding the AC expansion.
Also, they didn't clarify how much the upgrade will cost for current subscribers.
Thought the same in the initial reveal, but going to the webpage they mentioned... it's a set $49.99. Unless you are already subscribed where they will give you a discount based on the days left on your original subscription.

Splatoon 3 and Pokémon Legends dlc would be good adds. I think next year a lot more people would be interested if more games dlc is added. This year it ain’t looking too good, chief.

I guess we should've known that they wouldn't "devalue" their N64 catalog by offering it for ~$10 more a month. But $30 more, which is 150% of the price of the base sub, is just strangely excessive.

It doesn't vibe with the branding of "expansion pack". Expansion pack suggests something smaller than the base product that gets added to the base product.

I found it interesting they are including paid DLC with this, but they need to include more for this price, I wonder what else they are planning to include? They better say it soon to drive up demand.

AC really is not a game you bring to TGA.
¯\(ツ)/¯ What can I say — Keighley seems to pretty much take anything a AAA dev will offer him, AC was the game of 2020, and it was about 9 months old at that point with a year of free updates. I had just figured “year 2” would be paid and that the timing worked out.

It seems like this will be Nintendo’s general subscription for season passes in the future, but I wonder how it bodes as an experiment in Game Pass model. Will we eventually see a $120 tier that includes all new AAA games?

I think Splatoon 3 dlc will be included like some others mentioned, but that probably won’t be announced for a while if it happens.

I feel like Nintendo wouldn't give bad value, so there are probably definitely other features or content that will be released for the expansion pass that we aren't aware of yet. I also feel like the expansion pass can help bring more NES and SNES games more often than they have in the past. I am all for supporting Nintendo to help them provide a better service. I am in!

It could be a good deal if Nintendo adds future dlc to the expansion pack but... this is Nintendo, so who knows?
I guess i need to find a "family", 40€ it's too much for what they offer at the moment.

I foresee a lot of new "families" popping up.
I have my mother-in-law, and my 2 closest friends in addition to my my wife and son on the current family plan. My friends chip in whatever they can, which helps defray the cost.

Not gonna lie, Starfox 64 and Mario Tennis online with friends is tempting... Even $45 more tempting.

I'm already contacting people to do a family account lmfao. There is no way in my world can I pay 50 bucks for NSO lmao. If they improved the online gaming aspect then I'm okay with it like with PSN and Xbox Live.

This too. The precedent is set for more paid DLC. But what? Splatoon 3 I can see very easily. Next Xenoblade. But like that is so far away and based on their previous games having DLC haha.

Maybe they can throw previous paid DLC like Three Houses Xenoblade's in. I think that's fair.

N64 games are rendered at a higher resolution? The NSO trailer mentions that, nice

This price is totally fair. $10/year on family plan when the AC DLC is $25 alone lol

Um, was expecting an extra 10 to 20 bucks. What the hell. I hope they do an expansion direct to show more things. Me, my wife and my daughter all have Animal Crossing and would use the expansion pack, which would come to 75 dollars. But I would rather buy the expansions for us and pay for the NSO expansion at a lower price.
Yep, same here. I would much rather get the DLC separately and then pay less for NSO, but this is clearly an extra hook to make you a) feel like a sucker for buying the DLC rather than going for the 'added value' NSO expansion, and b) keep you subscribed to NSO because presumably if you unsub you'll lose access to a hefty slice of ACNH content.

One day I will break away from feeling like I need PS+ and NSO. One day the online games I play will die and I'll be free.

One thing I thought of that is good.... If you are family with multiple copies of Animal Crossing I am assuming the family plan essentially purchases the DLC for everyone in your family. That's not bad.

Families was always the better way to go about it. I've been including friends since NSO launch, and we would just split the pricing. 5 bucks per person was a lot simpler of a split than ~11 though.

Upgrading is cheaper for me than buying the ACNH DLC separately, but I need infos on what happens when the sub runs out.

Ugh and I just bumped up to a family plan to help my sis… if I was still individual I wouldn’t be as bugged but I’m not an AC fan so it hurts. So I have some open NA slots if anyone’s interested
I hope that they release monthly NES/SNES/N64/Megadrive games (they won't).
N64/Genesis will probably be monthly. It’s the start of a new tier and base tier had monthly at launch

Prediction: Mario Party Superstars will be the next big DLC given free with the expansion pass. Makes perfect sense especially with the family pack.
