Guess I better graze through a list of eShop-only titles on 3DS to see if thereā€™s any I havenā€™t gotten yet that I may want to play in the future.

This really stings seeing the DS family being officially phased out and losing support. It was bound to happen - but Iā€™ve had a DS throughout all 3 stages of my education, and although Iā€™ve built a good collection that I can always return to, knowing Iā€™ll never browse the eShop on one again breaks my heart a little. Not that Iā€™ve been doing that much lately anyway, lol. Just one of those things you expect to always be there.

Wii U I get, but 3DS really could stand to keep going for at least a few more years. I hope that somehow Pokemon Bank is still accessible...

I'd like to think this is the last time this will happen. The hybrid-style of the Switch isn't going away any time soon and given how many people are digital only making a future console not BC would be a disaster.

Still fucking sucks though. The least they could do is slash the prices of first-party games.
 
Feels premature for 3DS to say the least.

Has anyone put together an essential or "recommended" list for exclusive digital software? Like stuff you can't find on other platforms like Crimson Shroud, Attack of The Friday Monsters, Sega 3D Classics, etc.

Wii U has Affordable Space Adventures and bunch of other VC games that are unlikely to be individually sold down the line.

Obviously a lot more on both platforms. I'm curious if anyone has a list already out there.
 
They should just make PokƩmon Bank free for whatever amount of time Nintendo plans to support online play. Surprised that they don't clarify what will happen with that app once payments are stopped, when they do list Bank as an example of software you will no longer be able to pay for.
 
I interpret that comment as, "we know that the ones that complain about this are a minority of a minority. So, we will be releasing this games as we have always done, on NSO and as remakes, remasters and ports."

A: "We are going to offer these games via NSO. There are already a lot currently available."

Thankfully, I think I have all games I want when it comes to those systems, so I won't need to go on a buying spree. Still, it is pretty sad to think a lot of great VC games will cease to be available for currently supported platforms. I seriously can't even begin making a list of great classic titles that will disappear because there are so many of them. :(

Nintendo needs to seriously up their game when it comes to preserving old titles.

Even after late March 2023, and for the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to redownload games and DLC, receive software updates and enjoy online play on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

I love been buying eshop titles over the past year. Someone should make a thread here with the best eshop only titles and hidden gems
 
Also, cue all the fucking dorks who moan that no one ever criticizes Nintendo and how they always get a pass for everything while everyone around them is actively complaining and being critical of Nintendo.

Such a bad look when the PS3, a console released in 2006, backtracked on having its store close not so long ago.
 
Didn't the 3DS only get officially discontinued like, last year? Way too fucking early.
 
Yeah this both feels early and overdue at the same time. Somehow.

Anyways, time to see if I learned my lesson from the Wii shuttering: I will not give into FOMO this time. I will not give into FOMO this time. I will not give into FOMO this time.
 
This is super tragic. So many of these games wonā€™t come back as they deal with the two screens of the 3DS and the TV and Gamepad on Wii U. Not to mention the major loss of all the Virtual Console games.

We need to get an essential pick up thread going asap.
