you're probably wondering how a Barbie game ended up on the list, but it's fairly simple to understand.
it was a massive commercial success despite being ostracized as a "girl game". being the sixth highest selling game of 1996, beating out heavy hitters like Command & Conquer: Red Alert and Quake. as well as inspiring a large boom of similar girl games.

astoundingly, the Museum had previously included it in a poll a few weeks prior. a move which would have probably killed it's chances if it wasn't for the fact it accounted for one of the selected games. with the other three being selected by an internal committee.

The article about Barbie Fashion Designer on the museum's website is very good, very much justified it's inclusion.

It's a pretty cool museum, despite being for-profit (which I'm skeptical of). I recommend going if you happen to be in, uh, Rochester. Listen, it's not too far from Toronto.

Barbie Fashion Designer definitely deserves it, and the article about it @KilgoreWolfe linked is a strong reason why. Wii Sports and Computer Space are also incredibly solid additions.

All three games are very solid entries, yeah.

:)

The Last of Us in there makes total sense. Great game. The sequel was even better though, imo.
