Steam the classic Frogger-like "Zapper: One Wicked Cricket" just got a Steam release out of nowhere.

this was previously re-released as an "Xbox Original" on 360 all the way back in 2008 (albeit with "Blizzard" of all companies listed as the publisher, it was actually published by Infogrames. one of the many forms of it's current Steam publisher Atari SA.) but with the impending 360 store closure, and the game not being made backwards compatible on the Xbox One yet. the timing is appropriate.

the Frogger comparisons are particularly notable, as the staff behind it previously made the excellent "Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge". allegedly this was initially meant to be a third Frogger game early in development, but Konami pulled the license because they wanted to go back to making the series internally.


however, it should be noted that this version seems to be broken currently. with reports saying the game flat out doesn't run at all. (another release from the same collection, Gunship 2000. is also using an outdated build partially cracked by a piracy group.) so i'd suggest waiting a bit before picking it up.

it was due to the “.exe file path being too long” reportedly. but it works.

they’re also completely replacing Gunship 2000 with a newer build that also contains the “Islands and Ice” expansion they forgot to include initially.
