oddly this version is going under the name of ”P-47 II MD”, rather than the original arcade version’s title of “P-47: The Phantom Fighter” or even the originally intended title of the port, which was just “The Freedom Star”.
the development staff behind it have been begging for a proper release for quite some time.

but the furthest it got prior to this announcement was the release of the soundtrack in 2015, as well as some brief playable demo appearances at a few conventions.
the wording of the tweet suggests it’s likely a physical print run of actual Genesis/Mega Drive cartridges, but I suspect it’ll eventually get a digital release on contemporary consoles sometime afterwards.

The enemy vehicles in the original were fairly realistic so it was probably always going to have a different name. There was also an arcade sequel P-47 Aces but it looks different to that too.
