News Racist bully expelled from boarding school, media uncritically, sides with parents, reported story as him being expelled for "being conservative"

I was informed of this story via a tweet. There are two sides to it. The one that most people saw, and the real story.

Versus

These sorts of narratives fuel the view that conservatives are a beleaguered minority harmed by a woke majority. It's a case of playing the refs.

The school acted correctly. They did what most people would have done. He was creating a hostile environment for other students and they should not be expected to put up with that.

When these conservatives talk about being oppressed for their views, the next question should be "what views." Nobody cares about his position on deregulation or lowering taxes they care that he's a racist, a homophobe, and an antisemite.

There is also a false equivalence between banning conservatives for being racist and banning expressions of ethnicity and LGBT pride.

One school in new mexico, under pressure from a horde of fascists who kept bombarding school meetings with complaints about CRT and the wake of a pride festival, who sent their kids to school in response to LGBT pride flags with thin blue line flags and Confederate flags just banned all flags. This is a victory for conservatives. There is no comparison between Black Lives Matter or LGBT equality and fascist hate speech. It's a false equivalence made for political expediency. There is a difference. The hate speech creates a hostile environment, and the complaints about pride or assertions of minority rights are an illegitimate grievance.

The tweet referenced in... the tweet continues to be relevant three years later.

It's always funny that racism and other adjacent views are sympathetically framed as "conservative views" when it just makes conservatives look worse.

I don’t think they care how it makes them look. Most conservatives don’t care about shame or how things look unless it materially effects them. This is a common misunderstanding by non-conservatives. And anyone who does feel shame that other conservatives are aligning “conservative views” with bigotry? Well, that’s on them to resolve.

Glad to see this stupid bullshit isn't tolerated to some extent. It's also really funny for the kid's parents to defend wanting to destroy an entire regionof the planet and being bigoted as "conservative views" lmfao. So many people just want to hate on "others" without social repercussions.
