It's that time of year! Discourse is discoursing, world premieres are premiering, and Geoff Keighley is in Fortnite for some reason. That can only mean one thing: The Game Awards is just around the corner, which will inevitably lead to:
Betting
Indeed, the gamers' favourite past-time. Whether it be the Opencritic score of the latest release, the replacement VA to a beloved long-time character, or the sales figures of a big new title, the gaming community loves to place their bets on whatever they can. So, in turn, this thread was made to help with that. This is the official, staff-sanctioned, Game Awards betting thread, with three competitions - and three brand-new badges - to compete for. Called a 'Betting Special' in honour of the age-old tradition of GameTrailers and, after, the Easy Allies.
Before moving on, I implore you to read through the rules and notes thoroughly as to avoid any major confusion. Similarly, if you believe there is something that I have overlooked that might be worth a mention, please quote this OP (or message me) and say so, and I will look into fixing it ASAP.
Entries for this contest will close at (approximately) 12PM GMT (07:00 ET) on Thursday the 7th of December. I will make a post/threadmark declaring this, and any entries after that will not be counted.
General Rules & Notes:
- Only one entry is allowed. You will not be able to separate the 3 competitions into different entries; they must all be posted at once if you wish to enter more than 1.
- After posting your entry, I will quote your post and 'lock it in' with a Threadmark. Only the quoted post will count towards the total.
- However, in the case of a major leak, or official reveal, before the contest's deadline, I shall quote all contestants in the 'Mystery Box' contest who have predicted that specific game, and ask them to make another guess. The initial guess will not be counted.
- For my sake, I'd ask that you please use the submission form found in the 'Resources' section of this OP. This will simply make it much easier on me to input your entries into the spreadsheet. Also please spoiler your entry if you'd like, just to make things neater
- I ask that you please keep general discussion of The Game Awards here to a minimum, as this will both influence any potential future contestants, and make the thread harder to navigate.
- Overall, please try and be respectful to Famiboards' staff, to myself as the competition's runner, and to fellow contestants and members. Whilst healthy competition is encouraged, please remember that this is all in good fun, and that losing out on a silly internet badge is not worth any anger or frustration.
This is it. The big 'GOTY' award.
The task is simple:
Predict the Winners of all 32 of the Game Awards' awards.
Whoever has the most correct predictions wins.
However, to avoid a tie, I have chosen to give the 32 different awards a points value, ranging from 5 to 1 point per correctly-guessed award. If you guess the award correctly, you shall win that amount of points, and these will all be totalled to reveal the winner. These can be found in the spoiler below:

Rules and Notes:
- The 'Players Choice' Award will not be counted towards this category. This is for reasons stated in the threadmark.
- Whilst you can choose to miss out certain award winners, this will mean an automatic loss on those specific awards. So, whilst predicting all the eSports stuff might be hard, it's in your best interest to do so as even a single point could be the difference between winning and losing.
- This is who you think will win. Not who you want to win.
- In the event of a points tie, the process of elimination is as follows:
- The contestant with the most correctly-predicted winners, regardless of point score, wins
- The contestant with 1 or 2 wins over the other contestant/s in the other two contests, wins
- The contestant who submitted their entry first wins
- The contestant with 1 or 2 wins over the other contestant/s in the other two contests, wins
- The contestant with the most correctly-predicted winners, regardless of point score, wins
The singular winner of this competition will be the sole owner of 2023's 'GOTY' award:
I initially thought to simply make this a "predict the GOTY," award, but I thought that would be way too easy.
So, instead, your task here is to predict the three 'Big Winners' of The Game Awards. These are:
- The Game of the Year
- The singular Game which wins the most total awards
- The Publisher whose library of games wins the most total awards
Rules & Notes:
- You don't have to predict how many awards the game and publisher you have chosen might win, only what that game and that publisher might be.
- Independent studios are allowed in the publisher category. If you believe that an independent studio will win the most awards, then you must put the name of that studio as your answer. Simply putting "Indie," will not count.
- The winner of the 'Best Adaptation' category does not count toward the Publisher total in the case of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Nintendo, and Konami.
The prize badge for this award is special, as it is not yet finished. Instead, the three 'big winners' will be placed by myself into the below template when they are all revealed. In the case where the GOTY and the 'game with the most wins' is the same, the middle line will be deleted and the image will be edited accordingly.
World Premieres and big announcements are, arguably, as big as the awards themselves in Keighley's show. As such, this award is dedicated to the mystery and excitement that comes with guessing what might be shown. So the task here is, again, quite simple:
Predict 1 brand new game announcement that will be shown during The Game Awards
Rules & Notes:
- The first announcement of this must be at The Game Awards, whether it be the pre-show or the main show. So games like Grand Theft Auto VI, or The Last of Us Factions, which have been announced/teased already will not count. Essentially, it can't be something we know about already.
- This must be a brand new game. Remakes, Remasters, and Ports will not count towards this award.
- DLC will not count towards this award.
- If the game is a part of an existing franchise, then you must specify what you think it will be. So "New Mario Game," would not count, whilst "Mario Ballet," would.
- As mentioned prior, if a game is leaked or officially teased/announced before the contest's submission deadline, I will message all contestants who predicted that game and ask that they make another bet. If they don't, the existing bet will not be counted. I can fully understand that this may suck if it happens to you, but I want to keep this competition focused on the actual show itself, and leaks/teases aren't a part of that.
Represent an obscure Simpsons joke, and your amazing ability to predict videogame announcements, with this suitably mysterious badge:
