Arceus putting big numbers in an otherwise quiet week. BDSP got a slight boost. SwSh looks like it didn't.

Hardware:
Switch family (includes OLED Lite and OG) 99,078 (this week), 615,437 (YTD)
Switch OLED 46,947 (this week), 305,160 (YTD)
PS5 (all varieties) 23,339 (this week), 114,003 (YTD)
Xbox Series 1,696 (this week), 7,376 (YTD)

Only a slight Pokemon bump for Switches, PS5 definitely catching up with PS4 and Xbox is doing Xbox things.

Good to see Sony continuing to allocate PS5s to the region after the drubbing they got in the holiday lead up.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is now the GOAT of game sales in Japan. Has passed 10 million total (including digital)

Bells be ringing!

Arceus bumping BDSP makes sense because it’s more recent than SwSh and PLA serving as a DP prequel right?
I don't think there's much of a bump is there? Seems like a standard range for a recent evergreen to be in. The games do compliment each other though and people were wondering if that would cause one to eat into sales of the other, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

Arceus moved hardware sales to almost 100k, super impressive. But I don't understand why OG Switch is selling that many. Is the price difference too much for Japanese folk? Or docked players are more than I thought they were?

Switch SKUs sold a combined 99k.

Yeah I know, which means about 53k hardware sold are OG + Lite, presumably OG beating Lite. More than OLED, I expected OLED beating OG and Lite sales by now. Shortage still going strong, it seems.

The total number includes the OLED model which was the best selling SKU.

NSWOLED - 46.947
NSW L -19.800
NSW - 32.331
Total - 99.078

Yeah, I stealth edited before your first post, but you were faster.

Still point stands, OG Switch is still going strong. Lite + OG sold more than OLED. OLED adoption rates are not what I hoped to be. Shortage, I guess.

Wait you were faster than my stealth edit lol

Switch hardware is starting to reach the point of saturation. Arceus isn't really pushing the hardware to new levels, but it's still good numbers for how many years Switch has been on the market.

Yeah, I hoped OLED would refresh things up for Switch. Expected with Arceus thousands of OG Switch owners would replace their old consoles with OLED. And OLED to OG rate should have been 9:1 but I guess there are other factors. Maybe it's too expensive? Shortage?

The OLED is still a bit hard to get I think, but I haven't really heard of much shortages. Maybe with no performance boost people don't think it's an appealing enough upgrade?

OLED is having intermittent supply issues.

It's worth nothing that 2022 is tracking on par with 2019 which was a massive year for the Switch and could have easily been a respectable peak for the platform.

The Uncharted game was on PS5, not PS4. Uncharted definitely not living up to its name.

That Legends Arceus was able to pull off these numbers just a few months after the Diamond/Pearl remakes really shows the benefit of its fresh approach to the series. There's no sign of franchise fatigue, as Legends offers such a different experience.

PS4 SKU of Dying Light 2 should be in the Top 10 next week. It's 2nd in the COMG released chart. Ring Fit Adventure looks like it has a good stock week too.

Geo and Tsutuya have the PS4 SKU in 2nd and the PS5 SKU in third. It looks like Arceus will have a 70% second week drop, and PS4 Dying Light 2 will be at least 20K and PS5 version at least 10K.
