Turns out, having a first level (and final demo) with an unforgiving 2 phase boss when your own character still fights with tree branches might turn off consumers from your game.

Turns out, having a first level (and final demo) with an unforgiving 2 phase boss when your own character still fights with tree branches might turn off consumers from your game.

No kidding. It took me seven tries and over an hour to beat him. After that, I steamed rolled three whole levels in a row without dying once. Not sure what the heck they were thinking with that "tutorial" boss fight.

2D Metroid games seem to do well over there, but for some reason the Prime games just aren’t popular. I once read something about first person games giving Japanese people headaches, but I don’t know if there was any truth to that or if it was just someone being racist.

Metroid, period, doesn't do well. the only million seller was Metroid 1. Super Metroid hit over 500K, but after that, no game hit 200K. M4 and M5 are the only other games to break 100K
