Man that SAO bomba, guess people didn't wanted to take the chance like with Alicization Lycoris regarding perfomance (that an well , there's no anime to promote right now)

For reference Alicization sold 73,331 in the first week

wonder how Super Mario RPG sells since that's basically been a famitsu 1# most wanted since the announcement

Mario is such a big name that he affects hardware sales even before his game hits the market.

Yeah, I know it's because of the new OLED model, but still. The guy is coming in hot!

that NDS 8 milli year is insane. i doubt we'll ever see something like that again.

top 30

Interesting results for Ys X: Nordics, here. The PS5 version outsold the Switch SKU the week before, but now the Switch version is outselling PS5. Probably a combination of the good word-of-mouth for the Switch version and the hesitancy many players probably had for the same version at launch due to Falcom neglecting to showcase the game on the platform prior to release. Very possible that Switch ends up being the best-selling version in Japan when all is said and done.

Did Luigi's Mansion 3 get a movie boost or has it always just been ever-greening just outside the top 30?

Kind of shocked to see that one in the top 30. Knew it wasn't as big a deal in Japan as everywhere else so wasn't expecting to see it have legs like that

it's been a trend for a while for Switch versions to slowly out-leg Playstation versions. Falcom has been weird with marketing; say it was built with switch in mind, but never show it

Probably helps that it's October.

Their hesitancy was probably due to the state of the port before the day-1 patch. The game runs terribly without it; it's a real night and day difference.

They constantly repeated that the game was developed for Switch and that the Switch version was apparently finished first, you'd think that means that it would be in a presentable state at least few weeks before launch. Needing a day 1 patch looks to me like they were working on the port until the very last possible moment, which goes against all they've been saying.

It's a record that will never be beaten
Never say never!
Switch "2" is right around the corner ;)

Everything aligned with the DS in 2006: relatively cheap price with massive Demand matched with massive supply.

Oh, I'm not actually expecting it to happen.
It's just that quite a lot of records were beaten during the Switch era and I'm hopeful that the next-gen console will double down and be just as successful, rather than a flop or a (relative) underperformance like Wii U and 3DS were. 🙏
