Pikmin 4 stays winning. Obon effect still seems to be going, some of the evergreens have actually increased week over week. Also holy crap at that YTD, didn't know it was that close already.

NSW & PS5 yearly hardware sales comparison
Slight alteration to the Switch data, previously 2017 began on week 9 and ended on 52 however Famitsu actually had it beginning on week 10 and ending on week 53, so 2017 has every week moved up by one. This also means that week 34 in 2022 was Switch's highest week 34 ever.

the playstation software situation continues to make zero sense
Playstation must master the art of dandori. Gathering pikmin is a sign of good dandori. Dandori skills need to be met.

It makes sense based on the profits for both companies that were reported recently.
Nintendo - $1.35 billion
SIE - $358 million
what i mean is selling 4 million consoles and no game even barely entering the top 30 physical chart, that part doesn't make sense.

edit: even if we assume a massive unprecedented shift to digital, a large portion JUST playing f2p games, half the consoles being exported out of japan, massive rise in used game sales, still doesn't makes sense.

You have to think, with Japanese culture, the thing that's holding many people back isn't money, rather time.

So it's probably likely that many Japanese players are getting a PS5 just to have it, and maybe one game. Then they really don't have time to play it, and end up buying more switch software instead. That gives them flexibility to play on the train, at work, or at home. That really the thing that makes more sense to me.
