Discussion What RPGs Are You Most Excited About Walking Into 2022?

In terms of RPGs with a set release date, probably Elden Ring (though I'm still hoping to get a Steam Deck early enough to actually play it on release). Honorable mentions to Triangle Strategy, Legends Arceus, Midnight Suns, and Rune Factory 5

If Xenoblade 3 is announced that's shooting up to my most anticipated. Same with Fire Emblem. The previous games in both series are some of my favorite RPGs.

Pretty much same here (although I've never played a Rune Factory game). I'm also curious what Atlus has cooking, now that SMTV is out their only announced game is... what, P4AU? And that's not even really their game, right? I'm definitely expecting something Atlus to happen in 2022, whether that's some kind of new game or a Persona port or something like that

As far as officially announced RPG's go, Arceus, Monark, Digimon Survive and possibly Star Ocean (If its actually good). Less so, but if the next Neptunia game is a mainline title, I'll be excited for that.

I'm very interested in Granblue Fantasy Relink as well, but I'm clueless when it comes to Granblue Fantasy.

Project Re Fantasy is technically announced but who knows when that is coming out, unless you meant a title confirmed to be on Switch.

Nah, I meant anything really, doesn't have to be Switch. And I didn't really count Re Fantasy since as you said, who knows when that's happening. I just figure that there has to be something other than Arena this year, although they might wait until after that launches to talk about whatever it is, assuming it exists.

Forspoken is a weird one for me. I really need to see more of it, especially gameplay. Is it even an RPG, really? Parts of it look interesting, but also parts of it have felt a little off, so I don't really know what to think
Yeah I’m in a similar camp with Forspoken. I should be very excited for it since the FFXV team is behind it and they have big name writers attached, but the trailers and the 4 minute gameplay clip have all been off in one way or another. I’m not thrilled about the $70 price tag at launch either when in light of that. Hope they start showing why this game is actually cool or not soon. The movement looks super fun if nothing else.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
Next game from Kou Shibusawa and Team Ninja (Probably going to be Romance of the Three Kingdoms done Nioh-style)
FFXVI
Triangle Strategy
DQ3HD
Digimon Survive
BOTW2

I may consider adding Xenogears 3 to the mix, if there's MUCH more mecha involved.

Pokemon Legends, Atelier Sophie 2, Rune Factory 5, Xenoblade 3, Fire Emblem. BoTW2 I'm really looking forward to but I disagree with it being an RPG.

Starfield easily its the first original solo RPG from Bethesda in 6 years and its a new IP im beyond excited.

I’m not committed to any of them, but Sports Story, Sea of Stars, and Baldur’s Gate 3 all have potential.
