they should make ARMS 2 because ARMS ruled
Honestly I wonder if adding Min Min to Smash even changed ARMS' standing within Nintendo. Really, the only attention ARMS has ever gotten outside of Smash Ultimate was that one Paper Mario thing (and even that’s debatable). Outside of that, and after that happened in Smash, Nintendo just completely stopped acknowledging ARMS, as if they think it doesn't exist anymore (whilst still shilling Splatoon endlessly).

Physical copies of the game went out of print, sales just stalled and stopped at some point (I mean, 1-2-Switch outsold it), and that comic got canned. Doesn't help either that the team behind it seems to be caught up in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC at the moment.

You are right. I loved the first game. It was really unique and the basis is strong for a better, deeper and content richer sequel.

I would rather have a new Teleroboxer.

There, I said it.

Unless the next ARMS game is ARMS X Teleroboxer, which is an easy 10M seller.

Someone should really put me in charge of Nintendo video games in general.

I think they can do better. Not every game needs a sequel. Not every concept benefits from iteration. People say it was lacking in content - I think it was spread thin as it is. Adding more characters feels redundant - the characters do little to distinguish themselves and feel more like a chassis to hang the weapons you choose on. Adding a single player mode feels like a waste - I'd rather that effort go into a new single-player focused game. In recent years, Nintendo has leaned hard into multiplayer games, it would be nice to get a new world, with new characters, that recall their titles like Mario, Zelda and Metroid. I think Pikmin was the last new game that attempted something like that - 21 years ago. I'm not counting Ring Fit, as that felt like a product first, even if it was a well put-together, charismatic product. Splatoon clearly had a multiplayer focus and I don't count Xenoblade - it feels very genre-bound, and designed to target an existing audience, so it's not fulfilling the same role as the tall trees like Zelda, Mario or Animal Crossing. The Arms team probably isn't the right talent to put on something like that, but they could assist.

I saw this bump and thought I had missed an Arms 2 announcement.

Still thrilled for the Arms appreciation though.

Remember they were gonna make an ARMS graphic novel?????????? They had AMBITIONS for this franchise!!!!!

I’d love for that graphic novel to uhhh…. find its way to the public at some point.

Lola best girl
I can't believe Nintendo would abandon such a pure, sweet, innocent clown. That is morally reprehensible.

quoting my thoughts from another thread
i just think other than a story mode, new characters and weapons, ARMS2 only needs to nerf grab damage and landing speed

other than that, add a indicator to the player that they're holding the joycons wrong

the biggest issue with ARMS for new players is that they're probably going to hold the joycons like two wii remotes instead of two knuckles (L/R buttons facing the tv)

holding it wrong completely breaks motion controls making tilt to move and block nit work, making punches not land correctly, etc ..

It’s kinda weird they didn’t just formally cancel it. I wonder if it was too Spring-Man centric and maybe they didn’t want to mix up the branding after Min-Min got into Smash?

I think it could have been as simple as "the final product wasn't turning out well," and it would have been too much effort to rewrite.

I would love for ARMS 2 to exist even though I would likely not buy it. Tried the ARMS demo back then and it was fun-ish but I could never get over the game completely lacking a story mode. The characters were so well designed and I feel the whole thing would really lend itself to some proper world building. But alas I am not sure we will see the franchise again anytime soon.

What if the BN action game is arms 2 instead of the KIU remake that everyone wants?

Bandai Namco did help with the first game, maybe they took over the development of the sequel while MK team is working on a new installment.

i would love it along with like a proper rpg-esque campaign to it using all these rad designs in a story

i really like fighting games overall but i just need more of an excuse to get started on them

all these games are straight sitting on an anime esque tournament arc and sports anime influences of climbing to the top which are so much fun to play around with. it's why the Camelot Mario sports rpg games were peak

I'd hope ARMS 1 did well enough that a 2 is still on the cards. Even if I'm sure the team is busy working on the next Mario Kart.
