Not going to lie, this sounds pretty worrisome to me, specially the last bullet-point.Here is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.
- Upcoming Fire Emblem is a new game, not a remake. Brand new story.
- Collaboration between Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo and Gust (division of Koei Tecmo Holdings).
- Gust heavily assisted with the visuals / graphics. Graphics are an improvement over "Three Houses".
- Originally intended as an anniversary game to celebrate FE's 30th anniversary. The game has been finished for over a year.
- Main character (main lord) has strange red and blue hair. His mother is a dragon.
- New "Emblems" gimmick allows players to summon "FE characters from the past" for your squad.
I don't plan to share any more details about this game.
Many months ago, @NateDrake teased about "red and blue".
Everything Nate has teased about the upcoming Fire Emblem game has been accurate.
Please be kind to Nate. His information is good, and he cares about the Nintendo fan community.
I mean its an anniversary title, this is the kind of thing you do during those, but I am curious how it will play outNot going to lie, this sounds pretty worrisome to me, specially the last bullet-point.
The "summon FE characters from the past" part sounds fanfic-y. As @Disclaimer said above, this sounds like a cross-over mishmash.
Three Houses finally delivered in the writing-part after the 3DS games were laughably bad in that regard, so I hope we don't regress back to that.
Also, I'm new here, so Hi all
The gimmick is worrying in all honestly.Summoning past characters? So it's a console port of Heroes, then. Hope the protagonist uses a gun in this one too
More seriously; sounds interesting but i'm not totally sold on the past characters returning as the big gimmick of the game yet.
go nagi as character artist please! Here is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.

No lo seY’all that don’t know Spanish.
I don't think you necessarily have to opt for something like this just because it's celebrating the 30th anniversary...I mean its an anniversary title, this is the kind of thing you do during those, but I am curious how it will play out
I mean you are acting like you know what this is with just this basic info. I agree it could be iffy if executed poorly, but its a wait and see thingI don't think you necessarily have to opt for something like this just because it's celebrating the 30th anniversary...
I imagine its been content complete but not done in a literal sense, they are probably polishingIf the next FE has been done for >1 year, then I bet the graphics could be like Three Houses is Pokémon XY/SwSh and this next FE is Pokémon SuMo/SV in terms of graphical improvement
Stop, stop, I can only get so flaccid. What if the make it like Fates, and you have to buy the version of the hair color you want and it affects the story? You must pick your hair color after chapter 6. FE Crimson Coiffure and FE Periwinkle Pompadour. Surefire way to make some extra sales.
You definitely don't have to, but it makes sense if you're trying to follow the logic for why they'd do that gimmick in a 30th anniversary game.I don't think you necessarily have to opt for something like this just because it's celebrating the 30th anniversary...
Maybe I'm interpeting too much into this. But "summoning characters from the past" plus Nate's (Or someone else?) info that characters from past games will return is concrete enough to make me worry.I mean you are acting like you know what this is with just this basic info. oh. There’s already a fire emblem game where the mom is a dragon and the dad has red hair. (Of course that’s assuming IS took the implied ending as canon) lol. Here is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.

We will see I guess...
No, that's not my point. Maybe I'm doing a bad job at explaining my worries. Disclaimer's post basically explains what I mean.I mean if you are worrying its gonna be gacha I think thats a 0 percent chance lol
damn i hate that forum they're gonna ruin itUgh, I wish you hadn't posted a thread at that other place...
I was hoping to keep it contained in this thread.

Thanks for the info Emily and Nate! Also I take it the lack of gender neutral pronouns means no avatar self insert mc which is fine by me- I absolutely hated Byleth- Shez is automatically better for actually having a personalityHere is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.

Personally, I'm hoping they go all out in terms of free roam exploration; I want to be able to travel to and explore a bunch of different towns and whatnot like a "normal" JRPG. I hope they bring back dungeons like in Shadows of Valentia, too.We just got some nice info about an exciting new Fire Emblem game. Would suggest focusing on that as opposed to sidetracking this thread into football and language discussions. We already have the Nintendo General Discussion for off-topic banter.
Regarding Fire Emblem, I'm surprised they are seemingly going with the 'summon old characters' angle. Still excited though, I want to see what they can achieve with more time and experience with the Switch from a graphics perspective. Another question is how well the hub/uni worked in Three Houses and whether they will have a replacement or go a different direction.
Being a gameplay over story kind of guy is a blessing since you don't have to worry about how old characters returning might mess with the narrative, but can instead be happy for more FE gameplay that perhaps even might have a somewhat unique twist mechanically due to the summoning aspect.

Considering Nate's info still points (as far as he has let us know) that the succ is planned to release in this FY, I wonder if it could be announced soon before, or at, this Direct, for a holiday launch. The other alternative would be to announce it in January to release it in March, but that'd be too rushed, they didn't even try that with the Switch, as it was announced months before it's complete unveiling with a video that showed us it's switching capability. Teasing it in October would cut short the OLED sales by an unknown amount, as many OLED sales are to replace old Switches, so people would just rather wait it out a few more months to get the succ, thus I believe that if there is a time to announce it is soon and the launch would probably be this holiday.
Interesting to see they’re walking back on the different routes, because I’m assuming that’s our sole main lord? Here is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.

He has commented on this in the HW thread if iirc. He reiterated this in that thread too. Yes, he did a podcast about the Switch successor last year, I believe that's one place where he mentioned it's projected release window, which would be the Oct 2022- Mar 2023. As of now, he has said he has not gotten info that contradicts this. He plans to make a new podcast regarding the succ, but is trying to confirm somethings before so it's not a repeat of what he said last year. We have to consider the dev kits have been out since late 2020 too, and usually devs get those around 2 years before it's hardware releases, as that gives them enough time to make games for that hardware. Delaying the release too much for whatever reason forces them to sit on those games, but no dev has the luxury of being able to do this safely outside of Nintendo currently (the perks of merging their console and handheld pipelines), so it can't be too long for it's release. Can't recall this comment about FY, was it in one of the Nate the Hate podcasts?
My bet is also on first half of 2023, just unsure if still in Q1 or April/May.
Furries FTW.man, why everyone fucking lizards in this series?
On one hand, I want a new 2D Zelda so this may be disappointingI have a feeling that after this Direct, we'll be revisiting Labrynna and Holodrum.

On the other, the oracles are the only mainline Zelda besides NES ones that I haven’t finished so

Nintendo could get away with the Switch because the Wii U was dead and the 3DS was marketed as a handheld, while the Switch as a home console, thus no overlap, but this time is entirely different, there is an overlap and they'd probably want to keep their sales up during the holidays. We will have to wait and see, but I hope the succ is announced and released this FY.
