• Re: Hyrule Warriors - This game was a celebration of the series. It doesn’t “feel” like a Zelda game because it wasn’t meant to be.

• Re: Age of Calamity- AoC feels more like a Zelda game because it’s entirely based on a singular game and does a phenomenal job at converting BOTW into a Musou. And yes, the game got a weaker word of mouth because of the horrendous plot choices they made, even though it was advertised as a strict prequel.

• Re: Zelda game - Whether or not the rumored Zelda game is a Warriors game, it’s still nice to have a story narratively focused on Zelda. And if it ends up being a Warriors game, it’s possible Link won’t star in it due to obvious plot reasons. And she may be a swordfighter

This makes literally no sense for the lineup but darn it, it’d make me happy so here

EPD 8 2D Game
New ND Cube Game
HAL eShop Game
Tomodachi

The last Kirby game was already a racing game, but I would be down for Air Ride 2 except it's just City Trial
Yeah, I think you're right. I wondered if HAL considers Dream Buffet to be too much of a racing game to do another but decided to categorize it as "Fall Guys" rather than racing. I think that was wishful thinking on my part because I definitely had more of an Air Ride sequel in mind. I was thinking something similar about Super Kirby Clash, which clearly is inspired by RPGs but isn't the more traditional Kirby RPG I'd like to see HAL try once.

City Trial Royale. Take City Trial, expand the size of the play space 10x, limit of 50 players, players are eliminated if their warpstar is destroyed, shrinking circle...

I don't care if battle royale is a saturated genre, I'd be all over this.

Edit: better yet, you're only eliminated if you're reduced to zero health while not riding a warpstar, giving you the opportunity to dismount and ride different warpstars just like the original City Trial. Each round starts with everyone riding a default warpstar, descending toward the city from the heavens like meteors.

I'm struggling to get to 15... Assuming what I expect:

Metroid and FE (2*4), mario sports, hal eshop (2+1)...

What I want?
Zelda, Metroid, FE, b/n remaster.

Here is what I would absolutely love to see:

1. EPD 8 2D Game - 5 Points (Nov)
2. Metroid Prime 4 - 4 Points (Late Oct)
3. New NDcube Game - 4 Points (Early Oct)
4. Bandai Namco Remaster - 2 Points (Sept)

EPD 8’s game is DK, the NDcube title is a party game that isn’t Mario Party, and the Namco game is Kid Icarus: Uprising. Gives switch a really diverse slate for its final holiday before Next Gen while also being a calm in the Mario deluge before the next 3D Title is a launch game with Mario Kart also being 2025

I remember a lot of hype/interest in Age of Calamity when it was first announced, but then once it released I legitimately did not hear anybody talk about it all. In fact, if I wasn't so tuned-in to Nintendo fan discussion every day, I would have forgotten it even existed. I personally never played it, so I don't know anything about it. I assume it must not have been very remarkable if I never heard any word on it. What did you all think of it?

It was a ton of fun with an amazing soundtrack.

If they smooth out the fps on the next system, I'd play it again.

Honestly it'll probably be the first game I check out on Switch 2 if it has backwards compatibility. Even without a patch, the heavily variable framerate in that game should be definitely smoothed out just from better hardware. Haven't been this excited to see a game running well since Sonic Unleashed on Xbox backwards compatibility.

I was thinking, the next direct will probably happen in less than 1 month.

My bet is june 13, I know that the last one was Wednesday; but Nintendo like the number 13.

I'll be the hot take and say Age of Calamity also had a good story, and I think it's neat that some things in that story are explained a bit more with Tears of the Kingdom's story while also simultaneously not being directly mentioned in TotK. (examples: Revali not bringing Vah Medoh to full power cause he's not from the Sage's bloodline and there being an ancient guardian who was passed down for generations to specifically protect Zelda, as if there was an ancient scientist researching time travel who knew her)

I dunno, maybe I'm just a sucker for seeing a hypothetical good ending happen for characters introduced by meeting a bad ending. Does a good job explaining how that would happen IMO, even through all the typical fanservice-y Warriors plot.

Tomodachi Life 2
Tomodachi Life 3
Tomodachi Life 4
Tomodachi Life is an "expanded" version of Tomodachi Collection on DS anyway. Further Tomodachi games will expand the games even further, so we won't need multiple versions, I think. Just have the 5th game, call it Tomodachi Go or something and put as many as new locations for your miis to visit. Maybe a mall or resort hotel?

I know Nintendo has moved away from the Miis and that might be a factor, but I really am surprised we never got a Tomodachi Life sequel. The game did really well on the 3DS, better than Luigi's Mansion, the Zelda games, the Fire Emblems etc. I never understood why a port of Miitopia was prioritized over Tomodachi Life. I wonder if we will ever see a sequel/remake.

I thought it was going to be a real, canon prequel and then opening cutscene happened and I was so annoyed that I barely touched it after.

That was my reaction and why I didn't pick up the game.

Oh cool a real prequel that tells the story of the them failing. Oh wait, it's altnerate world time travel bullshit. Just lost my interest. Would rather go back and 100% Hryuke Warriors DE if I want the play that type of game.

Overall I enjoyed it in the end but yeah, I was disappointed they didn’t go for a canon prequel.
I get what you mean, but technically it still can be viewed as canon to BotW as it starts in that timeline before making a new one and brings in the future Sages from the BotW timeline halfway through, and the Zelda timeline is weird anyways. I feel like the different paths from OoT don't make say, Wind Waker non-canon in the grand scheme of things.

I wish we got both. Play through the canon timeline (or at least right when it falls apart) and then switch over to the other one.
This would have been ideal and would have been my preferred solution, I just don't think the first part would have been that interesting.

Can't wait for one of the Direct trailers to open with a remake of this song:

The soundtrack of FE4R in general is gonna be the GOAT if Echoes is anything to go by 😎

Kanazaki was the Sound Director in Echoes, but he was the composer Engage. So he will probably still be in the team, but maybe Yasuhisa Baba will be the lead in the game (he was the sound director in engage and composed for Echoes)

Nintendo teasing Mario Baseball? That render is very interesting. Could be nothing

THIS IS A JOKE. I dont know if anyone remembers, but last year I did a similar experiment on Famiboards, Ill link it if I find it. Around direct season I posted a similar baseball gif from the Seattle Mariners where in the background Nintendo was advertising the Switch with a Mario render holding a baseball bat. The next day, some Nintendo sites and youtubers cover it so people assumed it was a real thing. I thought about doing the experiment again but Ill just put this in spoilers to see if people will read it lol.

Would Mario then go 116 wins in one season and still not win the title?

Kanazaki had a fairly minor contribution to Engage, only being credited for 17 songs of the like, 160 song soundtrack, so I could definitely see him being the music director for FE4R still. I think Yasuhisa Baba actually left IS to form his own studio near the end of 2022, so whether or not he worked on it I guess depends on when work for the music of the game started and was finished.

Fun fact: Here's his (Baba's) Twitter: https://twitter.com/CokonNotes
Plus a tweet where he mentions the 1-year-anniversary of leaving IS:

Google TL: "It's been exactly one year since I left my job. It feels like it's been longer than that, but it's gone by in the blink of an eye.We will continue to work hard in our second year. Thank you for your continued support."
