There wasn't any sequels, Reginleiv is the only game. Mysteriously didn't get localized, despite the fact it was announced with the temp title "Dynamic Zan".

It's basically an Earth Defense Force game but set in Norse mythology. You slaughter jotuns and giants instead of ants and it's every bit as ridiculous as EDF series. Switch got some EDF games (one is coming out this september) but Sandlot yet to reveal their next game. I'm hoping that it's a sequel to Reginleiv.

Yeah, I remember being so annoyed that the localization announcement never came and it was around the start of the Wii drought too.

I see where my misunderstanding came from haha, but also yes I do hope in the future it means a sequel comes out and an officially localized version comes out before long for the inevitable Wii ports that never got much global love

1 Hagi port - hmmm has to be something I don’t care if it was upgraded much. A good handful of GameCube and Wii games I’d want brought back have multiplayer that’d be cool to see online get added to (F-Zero, Kirby’s Air Ride, New Super Mario Bros Wii etc) and others are too tied to specific controllers (like Sin and Punishment 2, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and for my preference Mario Galaxy 2). So maybe something like Wario World would be cool. I’d gladly take Metroid Prime 2, but a bunch of Prime fans would be sad it wasn’t like Prime Remastered lol. I would also want the Fire Emblem games if I was being strategic, though I’d prefer they at least add a no permadeath mode which I’m not sure is feasible in a Hagi port.

I'm still wondering if that Bandai Namco project is an original game that includes levels from an older game, though there aren't a lot of possibilities that come to mind outside of the Ridge Racer rumor. It strikes me as a little odd that Nintendo would contract the remnants of Bandai Namco's Smash team to work on a remaster for this long; while Mario Sports Superstars had to be done in tandem with Smash 3DS+Wii U DLC and Ultimate development, this project seems to have begun after Ultimate DLC shipped, and should have had something like two years of dedicated development before the next Smash's development cycle ramped up. I don't know what remaster would justify that; Kid Icarus: Uprising did reasonably well on 3DS but was by no means a charts arsonist, older console titles would need to make a case for why a Hagi port would be insufficient.

If it's a Switch remaster, we ought to see it next month, though I'm not ruling out a Switch 2 game at this point. Ridge Racer would be a welcome sight for Nintendo platforms after a decade of MK8's reign.

I recall this being discussed about six months back in the first party thread, and it was suggested that the Studio 2 game directed by Munehiro Koyanagi was a separate title from the game with remastered graphics. I'm skeptical that this team would have the capacity to work on two projects before returning to Smash development, though.

The rumored Zelda led game being Hyrule Warriors would be incredibly disapointing NGL. Like I'd be legit a little angry that is what they decide is what should be the first Zelda led Zelda...

The story is essentially fan-fiction (servicable), the cutscenes are amazing (I think there is nearly 150 minutes of cutscenes which give the champions far more screentime than BoTW), and the gameplay is good, but it is also a button-masher. Piloting the divine beasts was/is awesome.

I really enjoyed it, but I'm now remembering that the game 1) had DLC and 2) I never actually got around to playing said DLC despite buying it.

I was excited for it and even though in some ways it plays better, I ended up vastly preferring the first Hyrule Warriors. Getting to play as the sand seals with one of the characters was hilarious though lol.

I love it. Have like 80 hours in it. I think it’s SO MUCH better than the original Hyrule Warriors, if only for actually bothering to make it feels like it fits in with the Zelda vibe. Plus, mixing in some of the Breath of the Wild gameplay elements into the Warriors style was great. Felt like a true blend of Zelda and Warriors, whereas the original is a Warriors game with bad Zelda skins slapped on top.

And as far as making a splash: it’s the highest selling Musou game ever. So it must’ve done its job.

Age of Calamity's biggest blunder was advertising it as a chance to experience the past of BOTW. It's a enjoyable game, albeit repetitive like any other Musou I would assume, but it's story plays really really fast and loose with the story of BOTW. It's enjoyable for what it is, and there's a lot of elements of the story I like, but I think it would've been much more enjoyable if it were just faithful to the actual story of BOTW.

Hands down best Impa design tho. Love her. That said nowadays I prefer HW1 because if it's gonna be fanfiction you may as well go crazy with it. If we got a new one I'm torn between wanting an actual attempt to be faithful to the story of TotK or just a proper HW2.

Edit: As for the points idea, I'd take Metroid Prime 4, a new 2D Zelda, and a TP and WW dual pack.

Well, as a long time fan, let me tell you...it wouldn't be the first time!

There are previous Musou/Warriors games that have the story mainly revolve around one character in a similar fashion, even if there are others that are still playable. For example, Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada, true to its name, largely focuses on the exploits and career of Sanada Yukimura for the main story. However, the rest of the 60+ character roster rolling over from SW4 is still there, make their appearances in story mode, and, of course, are available in free mode.

Likewise, for another "franchise collaboration" game, you got the Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage games. Other characters have their moments, but obviously, much like the manga source material, the main story focuses largely on the MC, Kenshiro.

So, especially with all that in mind? I definitely would say that AoC was definitely "Zelda's game". The story revolved around her, as she grew into her power and purpose, even as the various other characters of the cast still had the moments. Something like that, or even more, I could see still falling well within that realm. At least, if this all leads somewhere.


And, of course, this is all assuming Omega Force was indeed tapped, again. Me? I'd be more than fine with Omega Force passing the baton to Team Ninja, and giving us the hardcore Sheik ninja game that I've been wanting since the days of Melee!

They definitely billed Zelda as the lead character in Age of Calamity. During a character down, where they posted the bio of one character per day up to release, Zelda was the last one to be showcased. Link was 2nd to last. Link starts the game as the main character but the story eventually shifts to a bigger focus on Zelda.

With that said, I don't think a Warriors game is what Papa Geno is referring to. I imagine if it were, he'd probably talk about a game starring all sorts of characters from the series/TOTK and not just focus on Zelda.

I agree with the most of this paragraph, and disagree with the last line. I think they should've been upfront about the fact that this wasn't an expanded retelling of BotWs flashbacks, because a lot of people were disappointed to find that out while playing.

But I loved AoCs dumb fanfic story for what it was! When you're playing the game for tens of hours and getting attached to the characters, what happens in the game is cathartic and hype when you get there; even though it sounds dumb when you read spoilers online without playing it. I definitely wouldn't want the canon events instead.

Tough choice between this and Prime 4 but.... I think the FE fan in me slightly edges out the Metroid fan in me

EPD 8's 2D project is up there as a 5-pointer, like Zelda. I guess people want the DK project to be 3D, but I'd assume EPD 8's two projects are 3D Mario and 2D Donkey Kong.
