Your top 3 Switch games in order?

1. Splatoon 2
Most played game by far. Love playing it with my partner - the short match time and continuous sense of progression is great. Unmatched. Can’t wait for 3.

2. Human Resource Machine
I love the indie games, have had multiple new experiences. HRM was amazing, really scratched an itch. In a different life I’d be a programmer.

3. Celeste
Games like Steamworld Dig 2, Hollow Knight, Monster Boy, Shovel Knight, Splasher, are all fantastic. I think Celeste is the best of the bunch. Incredible experience, and the gameplay is really top notch.

Too many honorable mentions. Top 1 won’t move, but there are 10-15 candidates for #2 and #3.

1. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
2. Super Mario Odyssey
3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The order of these three could change depending on my mood. I actually think Odyssey is the most impressive achievement relative to its series. Three Houses has my favorite gameplay loop of the three, and Ultimate is 12 year old JM's dream game, so even though I like Melee so much more I can't not put it there.

So games only on switch?

Or switch in general?

Anyways, I’ll just put any Switch games on switch.

1. Xenoblade 2
2. Slay the Spire
3. Yugioh Legacy of the Dualist

Roger Rabbit

Rattata
Mario Odyssey
Game Builder Garage
A-Train

I can't get into Breath of the Wild. I can see its quality, but it just isn't for me.

I've actually put more hours into Animal Crossing than any of the above, but I get bored of that periodically, whereas I never go for long without dipping into the ones on my list.

Oh boy

1. BoTW

What can be said that hasn't been said before? It's an all time classic

2. Splatoon 2

Booyah! I love everything about this game and it's one I've experienced alongside my partner which always gives a game major brownie points for me

And then like half a dozen games vying for third. There are moments I would have confidently put Astral Chain or Luigi's Mansion 3 in there, and I expect Dread will have it's time but today it's

3. Monster Hunter Rise

It's kind of ridiculous I've played over a 100 hours and feel at times I haven't made enough time to play it this year. The best multipla6er game I've played with friends on the system.

My top 1 is written in stone. No one is passing BotW until possibly BotW2 but 2- 3 is such a hard task especially considering the top 10 is extremely close for me.

But something like this perhaps?

1. Breath of the Wild
2. Hades
3. Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna the Golden Country

I really loved Breath of the Wild but my first (and best) playthrough of it was on my Wii U so I don't associate it with the Switch that much.

1. Fire Emblem Three Houses:
it literally has everything I like jammed into one game!

2. LoZ: Breath of the Wild
i was just blown away with how open the game was, it was a very nice new experience for me to play a game like that!

3. Splatoon 2
Eventhough it's been a while since I booted this one up, the gameplay of Sploon is awesome! Nowadays it feels too intense for me to play competitive multiplayer games, but I really want to get back to it some day! Super stoked for Splatoon 3!

XB2 deserves an honorable mention too!

1. New Pokemon Snap
There's so many different behaviours that Pokemon can exhibit in this game that each time a level is revisited something new happens. It's as dynamic as it is adorable. Having people to share photos and compare experiences with in this game is really something special.

2. Link's Awakening
It's just bliss. The music and visuals had me feeling completely at peace the entire time whilst I was wrapped up in its adventure.

3. Celeste
Celeste is a very special game to me. As someone who deals with anxiety I felt a kinship with Madeline and could relate so much with the feelings expressed through the gameplay.

1. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WIld
What is there to say? It's everything I wanted from a Zelda game and they really knocked it out of the park. Even a second playthrough, I just loved exploring and interacting with the world. Just an incredible game and deserves all the hype.

2. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Such a wonderful JRPG experience that I love so much. Love the battle system, story, cast of characters, the world and the music so much. So happy to see such a passionate fanbase for it to this day.

3. NEO The World Ends With You
While still fresh in my memory...I've been waiting 10+ years for a sequel to my favorite DS game of all time, and it definitely delivered. I love this game so much and it's currently my GOTY at the moment. So so happy this exists.

I'd prolly squeeze in Smash Ultimate, Fire Emblem Three Houses and Valkyria Chronicles 4 somewhere. What a great system lol.

Switch actually has two games that broke my all time top 10 list, which makes it the only platform with more than one game in my top 10.

1. Octopath Traveler
2. Breath of the Wild
3. Celeste

It's got a phenomenal library and there's half a dozen other games I could have easily swapped in for Celeste.

Not quite sure about the last one - on the one hand, so little time has passed for me to say with absolute certainty that Dread is in the top 3, but on the other... my god, what a game.

Also, Ultimate is below Vehicle Kit because I burned myself out on Smash Wii U.

2: Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It saved my 2020, like so many people. I will be forever grateful and hold a very special memory of this one, playing online with friends I couldnt see in real life.
3: Xenoblade Chronicles 3: a game that made me dream discovering amazing worlds while listening to the most incredible music.

The best is yet to come...
1) Tetris 99
That's where I put most time in so far. Great for 10min or 1h.

2) Super Mario 3D World / Bowsers Fury
Odyssey was great, but 3D Wörld suprised me with with Bowsers Fury.

3) Switch being a responsive take everywhere system
This just enabled so much more gaming time

Oh believe me, I know ^o^ -thanks anyway <3

I preordered the Anthology Collector for Switch, it has been delayed until further notice (mainly because of the new ingame map feature for all the game that has to be codded directly into the ROMs, like a romhack- and the Score Attack games weren’t good enough for the Factor 5 team at Epic Games Cologne, so they are restarting them) so in the meanwhile, I stick with Turrican Flashback ^^.

I had tears when I saw Turrican during GamesCom 2020, I’ve been waiting for years to see the franchise come back.

Also, Julian Eggebrecht have some ideas for a new 2D Turrican with pixel art visuals, exploration à la Turrican II and maybe a level editor à la Mario Maker.

Oh, this is a difficult one. I've given 6 games on the system a 10/10 ranking. They all deserve a spot in my top 3. But I'll rank them by playtime since that kind of shows how long I played them without dropping that ranking, I guess?

1. Pokémon Sword and Shield
2. Octopath Traveler
3. Splatoon 2

Next three would be:

4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
6. Metroid Dread

  1. Hades - This came out shortly after I had read The Song of Achilles, the timing just hit different. A perfect video game, if there is one.
  2. Fire Emblem: Three Houses - 200 hours into this game (perhaps double that into its Ao3 tag) and I'm still coming back for more.
  3. Divinity: Original Sin II - I can be a gay thunder god if I choose to, which is neat. Like Dragon Age: Inquisition before it, DOS2 is a western rpg for JRPG fans.
Unless Atlus fucks it up somehow, next month's Shin Megami Tensei V is a lock for this list.

1. Breath of the Wild

Is there really anymore to be said about this game? It's a masterpiece and maybe my favorite game of all time!!

2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

For all it's faults, I absolutely adore this game. While ditching some of the "slice-of-life" aspects to focus more on designing your island and home wasn't my favorite trade-off in the world, it's undeniable the this game just oozes charm and fun, and even with a lack of features from past titles, it still managed to be the best AC yet. And what do you know, an update is coming to give us most of that stuff back too and then some! This is a lovely game and this series deserved it's success.

3. Fire Emblem: Three Houses

I'm pretty new to fire emblem (only played the mainline 3ds titles prior to this) and when I first played three houses, I was definitely impressed but felt it didn't quite reach the highs of awakening. And then I kept playing and experienced a surprisingly captivating story that is woven across 4 separate paths, and I found myself falling in love with the game the same way I did with awakening years ago.

When I count Mariokart 8 Deluxe and BOTW as WiiU games (because those two are the best games Nintendo ever made IMO) and only include games that are available on Switch then:
1. Super Mario Odyssey
2. Ring Fit Adventure
3. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate

Others I really like were
Luigis Mansion
Tetris 99
Animal Crossing New Horizons
Fast RMX
Snipper Clips
Links Awakening
Bowsers Fury
Clubhouse Games
Paper Mario Origami King
Pokémon Sword and Shield (even with all its problems)

1. Breath of the Wild
Never had the awe and feeling of being on an adventure in a game since I was a child. This game gave me this feeling back, even after all these years, after knowing how the sauce is made and playing so many games. Truly incredible. Best Game ever

2. Super Mario Odyssey
While BOTW had higher heights, but Odyssey was more constant in how fun it was. I grew up with Mario 64 and love this style of 3D Mario Gameplay more. What a masterpiece.

3. Monster Hunter Rise
MHTri was next to MKWii one of THE online games from the Wii era. It was my first MH and man did I fell in love with it. Sadly I had to skip on those 3DS games, cause my hands couldn't play it long enough and World was too unbalanced for me and they fucked up me being able to play evreythign, including the story with friends. But Rise... Rise made everything better. Took the QoL improvements from World but took what was good with classic MH and put it into one game. Great

4. Metroid Dread
Well... you know what right now. Everyone know why.

5. Luigis Mansion 3
Such a neat game. Great animation, great puzzles, especially on the TV set and such a great piece on Nintendos design philosophies in terms of how somethign looks is lead by how something works and how natural you can combine your powers.

The place goes undeniably to Breath of the Wild. I have spent so much time with that game, and it is still fun to just pick it up and play. What I'm trying to emphasize is that I can just run and climb around for an hour or two without necessarily achieving anything, but still find it enjoyable and just pure fun.

After that it becomes more difficult. I'll just go with the two games that come to my mind first. Might change my mind completely right after posting, but anyway:

A Monster's Expedition: a lovely open world puzzle game. You are only really solving (relatively) simple block pushing puzzles, but somehow it also feels like a grand adventure.

Super Mario 3D World / Bowser's Fury: I don't care what anybody says, the movement in these games feels better to me than Odyssey. A big chunk of 3D World is too easy and Bowser's Fury has some uneven gameplay moments, but overall this combo could be my favourite 3D Mario.

Honorary mentions:
  • Return of the Obra Dinn
  • Hollow Knight
  • Divinity Original Sin II
  • A Short Hike
  • Baba is You
  • Sayonara Wild Hearts
  • like every 1st party Nintendo game, they have all been great.

My favorite game ever. I really cannot describe the joy that this game still gives me even after all these years. I probably have more than 500 hours on this.

2. Celeste

This was a big surprise for me, It was also my first indie game. This game is a masterpiece, a whole experience. The gameplay is top notch, the story is so real and specially deep for anybody that has gotten through anxiety or depression, the soundtrack is also incredible.

3. Smash Bros. Ultimate

Yeah this game earned the last spot, It's my favorite fighting game and I've met so many great people thanks to this game (offline and online) so just for that thank you Sakurai.
