For the sake of argument, let's assume that a Switch 2 isn't happening for another couple of years. We don't know that for sure of course. I just don't want to get a bunch of responses saying that the Switch Era is ending soon. This is a pure hypothetical.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is the second best selling game on Switch (and would probably be number one if Mario Kart wasn't a lovecraftian monster). The Animal Crossing community is still very much alive and well. We've seen spin offs and re-releases come out of the series before, so it's not out of the question. I doubt we'll get another NEW mainline game though.

There's a suspicious lack of multiplayer mini-games in New Horizons....

I honestly do not think so but I would LOVE a spin-off so I voted for that lol
Multiplayer because why not, I actually think as much as the announcement absolutely sucked that Amiibo Festival gets a little too much hate, though it's obviously not a great game.
They built the Happy Home spinoff into the main game as DLC this time around, which I think was a great idea. I think a cute smaller spin off game in a year or so would be really great, no matter the genre but it would probably be some sort of a party game if it existed at all. I love Animal Crossing, recently started playing New Leaf again for a couple of minutes a day. Any new Animal Crossing is great news for me!

My gut feeling is no. What would've been an easy spinoff, a sequel to Happy Home Designer, was instead released as DLC for New Horizons. And Amiibo Festival was a critical and commercial dud, so no way they go back to that. I wouldn't mind them attempting a new party game, as long as its more interesting than Amiibo Festival, but I imagine they go for, say, a third Mario Party or some other IP (let alone our favorite Stinky Horse game stuck in dev hell right now).

There's a chance for N64 Animal Forest on NSO, but we won't be getting that internationally (and even if we were, I doubt it'd be translated), so I'm not counting that.

I could see them try again with a party game. Obviously without the amiibo focus this time.

I'm gonna say NdCube make a new Animal Crossing party game and that it launches in oh, let's say 2023.

If they collected some of the more invested minigames from New Leaf I could maybe see it happen, but if anything I'd still be annoyed if it wasn't just more paid DLC or if there weren't any integration with the existing game at the bare minimum

At this point I am not even sure if we will see another 3D Mario. So I guess no.

New Horizons is my most-played Switch game, but I’ve been happy with the content updates and expansion. I don’t really want a new game until next gen.

Main series? No way. Spin-off? Maybe! I’d hope so, even. Hell, they could even port Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival to Switch and I’d love it—it’s actually a fun game to play with friends despite the awful reception the game got, and the Switch could certainly use more party games from Nintendo because it’s still lacking compared to the Wii U’s offerings.

Another Animal Crossing party game makes a lot of sense. The franchise is much more popular, and Nintendo's local multiplayer offerings on Switch sell solidly; 3 to 4 million sales for the Mario sports titles and 51 Worldwide Classics; Super Mario Party north of 15 million and Superstars almost at 8 million after 5 months.

An AC party game is at least going to sell 3 to 5 million copies; and could easily do more, given how well the Mario Party titles have done. NdCube are familiar with the series, given their work on Amiibo Festival and Pocket Camp, and they've been pretty productive on Switch with 3 games so far.

I think we’ll see a spinoff and probably the original game on NSO in Japan.

No. I think any type of spinoff will be released as a DLC for ACNH but free for expansion pass members. It just has too many benefits to do so; making it "free" means it drives ACNH players to the expansion pass, and expansion pass owners who don't have ACNH have more of a reason to buy ACNH.

Any type of spinoff? Like, they'd build Animal Crossing Party or Animal Crossing Kart in New Horizons?

Okay, maybe not ANY type, but Animal Crossing Party as a game like Amiibo Festival sans the Amiibo? Yes. Animal Crossing Kart? No, but that game would never exist anyway.

I think building a spinoff in New Horizons would be more trouble than it's worth. Happy Home Paradise worked because its gameplay is New Horizons

But didn't they do exactly that with New Leaf? They added completely new updates to the game that were a puzzle league likegame and a stripped down amiibo festival and made it a free update.

Yeahhh

I don't think something of that scale is relevant here but I guess that's up to OP

Main series no. Spin off maybe. Voted no anyways. It's one of the few series where I'd say only one game releases per system/gen.

Animal City.
Live in an appartment complex filled with your animal buddies, work at some part-time jobs to get bells, hang out with your friends at the mall...

I vote no, as I feel the next game would land on the Switch successor. Animal Crossing New Horizons is super evergreen like Mario Kart now, so I don't see them rushing another one out before then.
