I definitely felt that way about the first one and I loved Bowser’s Inside Story too, but they definitely felt limited by being mostly about Mario and Luigi. I bought both at launch, but still haven’t played Dream Team or Paper Jam so I can’t speak to those. I heard they ran into some of the Paper Mario problems where they couldn’t make original characters anymore especially in the last one. I’m hoping for a bigger adventure again whatever the next Mario RPG is. Origami King was definitely back on the right track with the big adventure feel (it still had the Toad problem) and the combat was fun, but I want regular turn based combat, with MP, equipment, and partner characters. I want more Geno’s, Goombellas’s and Vivian’s again.Hmm, it’s a toss up between Kid Icarus and Punch Out. Would also love a proper follow up to Excitebike.
Aren’t Mario and Luigi technically the proper Super Mario RPG since it’s from the people that made the original after leaving Square?
Can’t talk about Paper Jam as I have not played it but Dream Team does still keep the original characters tradition of the other games. Has some issue (tutorials everywhere) but I liked it. I think Alpha gets plenty of leeway, but it also helps that they seem to love making their own characters and enemies for the series.I definitely felt that way about the first one and I loved Bowser’s Inside Story too, but they definitely felt limited by being mostly about Mario and Luigi. I want that more than a sequel tbh. With good controls that game would be a real masterpiece after all.
My answer: Doshin the Giant
Loved the game as a kid and the entire god sim genre is dead. Untapped market potential!
It's not just dormant franchises; there's no reason something like DK, Metroid or 2D Zelda should go 7+ years without new mainline entries
I do love me some Pushmo though, does that count?
I'll say it with you. MOLE MANIA!!! I would also like a new Mario & Luigi entry and a new Custom Robo.I can't believe someone else said Mole Mania, but Mole Mania.
Just about everything listed is great though.
Surprised no one has brought up Yakuman.
When it comes to this and what I consider “dormant” ( more than 10 years or two console generations)
