Me playing Fata Morgana: A Requiem for Innocence 1 hour ago: Huh. This is way more upbeat and cheerful than the original game.

If you're playing Yu-No, do you think you could help me out with how the time thing works? Would be much appreciated.
Sure! I’m barely into it, so I doubt I’ll be much help lol, but if I catch up: I can help. The main criticism I heard from a friend was regarding how difficult the game was at points. Sounds like a guide is almost required to prevent frustration sadly.

Also as a side note, I love Ryoko. She was my favorite one in 13 sentinels!

Ryoko rules. Her arc was my favorite as well, she's very compelling. Also, she's insanely OP in Destrucion mode, if you have her with the hyper condenser in casual mode, the game basically auto-plays.

I haven't posted on VN threads before but I have definitely gotten into them over the past year. Some of the ones I have played include:

  • Clannad: this was the first VN I played and made me more interested in the genre -- really enjoyed it
  • Summer Pockets: saw it was also made by Key so I figured I would try it -- overall, I like how chill it is most of the time, and I enjoyed the story and characters
  • Yu-No: I have mixed feelings about this one. The pervy stuff was over the top but the protagonist did have some good moments. I liked the premise but wasn't really a fan of the direction they went with the final route. I enjoyed most of the character routes, though.
  • Chaos;Child: this one gets pretty intense! There were moments where I was like "wow, they really did that" -- this is one where I constantly wanted to know what would happen next
I know there are some classics I haven't played, like Steins;Gate and Little Busters, but I actually saw their anime adaptations before I got into VN's, so I'm not in a huge rush to get to them even though I may get more out of the stories. Also, I heard ReWrite is getting a Steam release? I've heard many good things about it so whenever that comes out I will get it for sure.

Visual novels are cool. I haven't played so many of them as I've gotten older because some tropey anime aspects have become grating over time (mostly perverted "humour" that tends to find its way into most stories) but a good number of them remain among my favourite video games, if we're lumping them together. Including, of course, Umineko :)

I did play Raging Loop this year, which itself suffered a little from that, but is one that I really dug for about 2/3rds of it. I feel like it dropped the ball in the latter third and that soured me on it some, it's certainly a very compelling experience through the majority of it though.

I hadn't heard of Gnosia before going through this thread, really glad it was brought up because sign me up for more Werewolf/Mafia themed stories. Glad this is coming to Steam this year apparently, I'll be waiting on that release and will be sure to play it.

I'm deep into Raging Loop at the moment. It's a lot more fun and interesting than one might expect of modern Kemco. There's still a lot to the mystery to uncover as far as I'm in, but it's been interesting to see unravel from the get-go.

I feel the same way, it was very compelling, until the point where you find out it's kind of a dream..but not really? It started to seem like the character then knew more than me as a player and having explanations for just about everything.

I am compiling myself a list of VNs on Switch on Deku Deals to make it easier to find VNs on sale among all the clutter. It's probably still missing some lesser known titles though.

Playing through Robotics;Notes Elite right now, not sure if I like it just yet. Still very early on, but it's not compelling me enough.

Here you have a few ones missing:

Little Busters
The Grisaia Trilogy
Clannad Side Stories
Tomoyo After -It's a Wonderful Life- CS Edition
Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz
Aokana - Four Rhythms Across the Blue
Bustafellows

Read a section of Raging Loop last night that played the same loud, inconsistent loop of a car engine sputtering for several minutes and it’s the most uncomfortable the game has made me. The horror!

Not only is this list great for finding deals, It's perfect for sorting out visual novels from the eshop's busy interface. I feel like it's easy for VN's to fall through the cracks there.

This talk of Raging Loop reminds me that I should probably buy it because it's one of those games that will continue to be really affordable until it suddenly isn't. There's only so many times I can deal with "OOP, RARE Game!"
