Here's one: The Wii U Pro Controller would be the best controller if only they had put a gyro sensor in there. Symmetrical top-position analog sticks was such an inspired big brain move and I will mourn its absence on the Switch until the end of time. It's now my primary PC controller. Everything feels great on it.

Prey reboot from Arkane is one of the best immersive sims ever created, and it's at the same level of System.Shock games.

Thread is for UNpopular opinions. This is just a widely accepted fact about Prey 2017. :)

I thought it was very unpopular, specially with reviews.
I've only seen GOTY-caliber reception for the game, it gets praised constantly. I don't think you had an accurate read there.
(edit: which should ultimately be a win because it just means people already rightfully love a great game)

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is a fantastic game, the portrayal of Phoenix is perfect and it laid the ground for a second trilogy in a way that kept the franchise fresh and interesting. Also Trucy >>>>>> Maya.

Is there a specific way you connected it to PC? I tried it once via Bluetooth and found it had unacceptable input lag compared to other controllers. Maybe I did something wrong.

Maybe you're also just playing games where input lag becomes more apparent than in what I've been using it for (stuff like Control, The Witcher 2, The Evil Within). Though I did first use it to play AM2R.

I'm using an ancient USB dongle for the bluetooth part + WiinUSoft to read it as an Xbox controller.

Sonic R is legitimately a fun game. There's only about 2-3 hours worth of content and the multiplayer sucks so it was a bad value for $50 back when it was new but I think the gameplay mechanics, presentation, and track design are all actually really solid. I run through a new file every couple of years and always enjoy my time with the game.

I don't know if this counts as positive but I'll put it down here. Becoming overpowered in a game is fun. I enjoy min maxing and breaking the game in RPGS. To me, becoming strong enough where I can breeze through the game is part fun.

I won't be negative this time, so... Level 5 used to make great games. They're seen as these "aesthetics only" devs but their fundamentals are correct. The Yokai Watch games on 3DS are IMO better than the other JRPGS for kids (Pokémon etc.).
I agree, I'm currently replaying Fantasy Life on 3ds and dang, it still holds up! The Level 5 glory days were amazing

I genuinely love the soundtrack too.

I'll add another one - Xenoblade X is the best game in the series. It has some jank and could definitely be improved but it does a lot of things better than the other games. There's also something about it that just clicks with me.

Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD is the best Monkey Ball game ever made. The only thing holding it back from being a 10/10 are those awful boss fights. The actual levels are fantastic though and the music in HD is great.

Castlevania 64 is a solid game. One thing that it does well for me and my limited exposure with the franchise is that it got the atmosphere great.

Prince of Persia 2008 was better than the forgotten sands or most other games in the original series/trilogy. The complaints about the “you cant die so it sucks” stuff is pointless because all it does is replace the game over and reload function with reloading your last checkpoint. It also played very well outside of combat, so I took it as more of an exploratory adventure game with a good relationship.

The thing that impressed me with Sonic R is how each course have a lot of detail, and even the alternative paths are highlighted on the map. The detail that went to each map makes it feel like actual 3D levels, though maybe Radiant Emerald is too straightforward. Then there's the obvious highlight of the fantastic soundtrack, where despite not being a mainline Sonic game, has Super Sonic Racing being selected as a track even in Smash Bros., so it's recognised for the quality songs. I felt that the main thing that made it not the best is how unbalanced it is: Super Sonic practically beats most characters while someone like Amy or Eggman can't catch up with most of the competition.

Thank you for reading.

And who could forget that sweet, sweet music?

If it becomes the standard that new mainline Pokémon games launch without all the Pokémon, but have the remainder of the roster filled in via post-launch updates, then I honestly wouldn't have a huge problem with that, on the condition that Game Freak actually communicate their intent to do that up front instead of... whatever they were attempting to do in 2019. In retrospect, at least if my guesses about how the last couple years of Sword and Shield post-release support will play out are correct, the issues with Dexit have been less about what Game Freak has done and more about what they've said (or not said, as has been the case in 2020 and 2021).
