Not able to watch just yet, but this one is unusually long! As always, I'll add some thoughts once I've finished the video.

Nice, I love these videos. This is one of the two games (Super Metroid being the other) I've watched speedruns of the most and for the longest so that makes it even better while also making me feel very old.

Just finished it. This is easily one of Summoning Salt’s best videos. It’s got tension and drama and people to root for. That section in the middle about Chase for the Record is amazing, and Salt doesn’t even talk during it. All around great video. Can’t wait to see what game he covers next!

I'm impressed that there's been at least 2 chase the record live events that have paid off in a wr. The one in this and Cheese's run a few years ago.

This is definitely my favorite of his videos, partially because I'm friends with cyghfer and coolkid, I was a regular in ello's chat at the time and I was actually around the community during those grinds. Just beautiful stuff. It's really understated just how much all of them grinded that game out, cyghfer's grind streams are a thing of legend.

Finally got around to watching/finishing this. Not much to add other than I think Summoning Salt is getting better at making these, the whole chase segment was very well done.

The moment where Cyghfer got the run during the marathon has to be one of my favorite Summoning Salt moments ever. Something about the way he was building up to it made me not completely sure if it would happen or not until the moment where he said it did. Completely edge-of-your-seat YouTube video/film-making.

So, a few days after having the age restriction lifted, this video was restricted once again, with little sensical explanation. Summoning Salt has created a new video better explaining the situation here:

YouTube has made their decision final, effectively killing this video. Wouldn’t be surprised if Summoning Salt just pulls the video and reuploads it. Absolute bafoonery and head in the sand behavior from YouTube.

What BS. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to get stuck with an issue that could be solved in 3 secs by an actual human instead of the garbage algorithm YT uses

Finally took the time to watch this today. Summoning Salt's writing is impeccable. Such a compelling narrative built around the speed run, with cyghfer at its core. The Chase for the Record segment in particular had me at the edge of my seat.

Bloody great video. Watched this at the time, and it's a brilliant video. Stellar researching, storytelling, emotional in places because one felt the passion of the speedrunners for this title, and cyghfer emerges as a sort of protagonist in this narrative. I found myself rooting for him, rather than the record itself. Perhaps that's a testament to SummoningSalt's direction and production.

For fans of the Mega Man 2 speedrun, you might be delighted to know that cyghfer went on to set a new world record on 21st November 2022 with 26:32. I suspect that he's also on the cusp of a 26:2X run, too, so, this video is going to need an update!!
