anyone here excited for this? after the mess that was deadly premonition 2 i'm a bit cautious, but i'm hoping the game turns out well.

I am not surprised. I was expecting this game to be a bit of a PS2/DS era like game. I backed it and liked the idea back then, but seeing the reviews....yeaah.

Hopefully this game proves to be along those lines (maybe after a patch or two or three)
