Just to bring everyone up to speed, here are the Nintendo premieres featured at The Game Awards since the beginning:
- 2014: Mario Maker (new trailer), Code Name: S.T.E.A.M (game reveal), BotW (first gameplay shown offscreen)
- 2015: no game premiere (but Reggie gave a touching homage to Iwata who had passed away that year)
- 2016: BotW (short trailer + gameplay segment)
- 2017: BotW (Ballad of the Champions trailer + release on the same day), Bayonetta 1+2 and Bayonetta 3 (reveal)
- 2018: Joker for Smash Ultimate, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (game reveal)
- 2019: Bravely Default II (game reveal), No More Heroes 3 (story trailer)
- 2020: Sephiroth for Smash Ultimate
Now, for this year, what do you guys think they might show? Smash DLC is over, so that’s off the table. Maybe a new BotW2 trailer with a possible subtitle reveal? An announcement of the heavily rumored Metroid Prime remake/remaster? A first look at the Mario movie? Or perhaps they will go all Nintendo on us and bring something totally unexpected.
