Big Man will get whike ink again during FrostyFest so.... it's over.
Can he be stopped in the next SpringFest and Summer Nights?

How the squid are wizards more popular than knights and ninjas? This hasn't held true in any RPG campaign or MMO I ever played!
for me, it was the wording. It's not "who would you play as in an RPG/MMO" but "what would you be in a fantasy world"

I rarely choose to play as wizards, but if I'm in a fantasy world, like actually gonna be living in it, I want magic, dangit

I picked Knights because Frye's forehead leaves her extra vulnerable to attacks. Even high level wizards can't summon something capable of stopping a trebuchet's projectile while ninjas have no hope of deflecting it with shurikens.

You may be onto something. I like playing tanks and tanky brawlers, but being realistic, I would be a nerd in a fantasy setting, too, and nerds aren't cut out to be ninjas or knights. Could be Splatoon's players are just all very honest with themselves.

I really wish Nintendo brings their music to Apple Music / Spotify, especially for Splatoon. It is criminal their music is only available through CDs in 2020s. I’ve been buying CDs regardless but still it doesn’t feel right to purchase CDs just to rip it and forget about it. I NEED the Grand Fest music on streaming.

You could upload your ripped music on youtube music for free or also on apple music if you pay for apple music or itunes match. Once it is uploaded you can stream it everywhere these services are available

It's Halloween themed and they made one of the options basically witches. There's no way in context it would ever be anywhere close when the other options weren't very halloweeny at all.

I honestly can't be the only person that's just so exhausted with Big Man and him winning all these special holiday Splatfests. What with the horrid toxicity of their side always behaving like man-toddlers, and throwing a tantrum if others don't practically worship the overrated walking, unfunny meme that had no need to be there, if I'm gonna be honest; I think it's safe to admit that three-way Splatfest battles as an entire concept is just so horrifically flawed and unbalanced and broken as it is; Big Man is just a weak third wheel, stuck between Shiver and Frye. Splat3 did not need three idols. The series was just perfect and fine with two, even if ~15% of the Splatfests weren't the best, I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. But three? Really? There isn't truly nearly enough concepts or ideas that one can pair into threes.

Also Frye's supporters when she only had the one win were easily the most toxic fanbase towards anyone who supported Shiver

I feel like most of the Frye folks I'm friends with are a bit more civilized than all the toxic "stan" folks who apparently choose to "stan" Big Man on social media and such. Idunno, maybe I'm just disenchanted and weary and even a hint cynical? I guess. I did love the Grand Fest, but I feel I've had my fill of Splatfests in Splatoon 3, if that makes sense. 🤔

That's sure a post to call other people "toxic man toddlers" over.

Yeah I agree, it feels like now the finale is done we're just in the filler arc. I wish we could have had more collab Splatfests because they made great 3-way fests (the LOZ and Pokemon ones)
I definitely loved the Grand Fest admittedly a little more than the average sane person would that to this day, my desktop wallpaper is Grand Fest related, lol-

That's what happens when you get sidelined in the main campaign and outright omitted from the DLC.

Off the hook also had basically zero character until octo expansion and they never even gave deep cut an opportunity.
on the one hand I agree

on the other I think they're also just fundamentally less interesting and frankly worse than the previous two groups

That's good to know. I've been doing it with Apple Music but I didn't know the YT music was an option too. Spotify in the meantime wasn't really good for local music files. Also I would like to see Splatoon and other Nintendo music being included in personal stations on Spotify and AM which can't work with the iTunes Match.

I am just wishing Nintendo brining their music to streaming someday for broader audience who aren't willing to buy CDs but would love to listen to Nintendo music. Capcom and Atlus have been doing well to publish their music on streaming services a while so hopefully Nintendo would do the same in the near future.

Anyone here got the Gold Challenge Badge recently? I missed out when challenges first started and it was basically a freebie. Now 5% must be like 20 people tops be cause I can't even crack into Silver at 1800ish power.

Are any challenges really cheesable with a certain weapon maybe so I know what to be on the lookout for?

Is "Wockio" also your name in the game? If so, we played together a few matches during the week :)

Honestly, there is A LOT of luck in the matchmaking involved.

I think Duel of Dynamic Duos challenges tend to be "easier" or fairer. The screen not being a busy mess of 8 interacting players helps a lot with your focus, objective and battling.
I actually would love a mode where it's only 2 vs 2.
For the Duos challenges, I'd recommend the Splattershot or the Squeezer (if your finger can handle it :p).

I think everyone ought to agree that Deep Cut was always really weak
I think there was more potential if they found a way to incorporate the Ian BGM drama and ensuing band feuds into actual story events in-game, but it was hard to care much when the only consequences of all that was 'there's another Splatfest song now' (though they all slapped, tbf). By the end of it I felt like Deep Cut's biggest identifying trait was that they didn't like the previous idols, which made it hard for them to stand on their own.

nah. nintendo just neglected them, that's all.
same song for every single splatfest (if u don't count the battle themes and grand festival)

off the hook had waaaay better treatment

Deep Cut will be fine. They already have a good dynamic you could make endless interactions out of (cold-blooded/hot-blooded/mellow trio), and they'll almost certainly remain the only 3-member group for the next while. They just need more solo content to flesh them out more, given that their only singleplayer presence is little more than a misguided villain routine (with good boss fights at least).

On that note, it would be nice if Nintendo focused solely on Splatoon 4 for the life of Switch 2. Would allow more time to be spent on what will be a fairly large cast once the Splatoon 4 characters are included.

There's nothing wrong or lesser about Deep Cut, they just have the misfortune of being the third idol group and having to share the spotlight with 2 other bands.

It's weird to say this when Deep Cut is the only band that got unique music for seasonal Splatfests. With all the seasonal variants they have by far the largest catalogue of any band in the series.

Deep Cut suffers from a lack of expansion in their story mode which, let's face it, is where the majority of fans are going to get their personalities from.

Now, to be fair, it's not nothing. We know that they are plunderers who sell Human loot in order to pay for their community. All three are part of separate clans with Big Man as the head of his. They also all share one braincell. But...that's kind of it. The final boss of 3's Story Mode probably gets more detailed into their backstory, motives, and emotions in comparison. And especially in comparison to Off the Hook who in Octo Expansion get such compelling story beats that it fuels their popularity even if you ignore how incredibly gay they are for each other. Hopefully Splatoon 4 gives them the focus as they do deserve it.

Yes it is! That's crazy!!

The Jet Squelcher served me well even though I'm a Splattershot main. And yeah it's one of the better challenges among the set, I felt like I actually developed a sense of camaraderie with my teammates and got to know some of their playstyle whereas I pretty much never pay attention in 4 vs 4. 2 vs 2 definitely needs to be explored as an option in the next game.

So, I'm not the only one who hears "I still love you" at 1:46 in the video right? I've always heard that but it seems like that's what they're saying.

Welp, more fuel for brainrot.

I think it's interesting how #47 is natively 'Slumber', but got localized as 'Onward'. They sound like opposite concepts!
I think it works! A slumber is generally seen as a very light state of sleep, so if you connect it with the beginning of Side Order (where your character falls asleep on a train), then Side Order proper is the REM sleep, and finally the credits scene is the slumber, where you're almost awake again.

This update focuses on making it possible to use certain amiibo features even when not connected to the internet as well as adjusting the balance of battles.
We adjusted the specifications for Splattershot and Splattershot Pro with the intent of expanding the range of situations these main weapons can handle. Additionally, these weapons have specifications that form the benchmark for various other weapons. By improving these, we also intend to make room for further improvement of specifications for weapons with similar distance specializations as these weapons in future balance changes.
For other main weapons, we have made changes that bring out their strengths and make them easier to use for players who regularly use them.
For Fizzy Bombs, while the efficiency of the strategy of continuously throwing Fizzy Bombs from afar will decrease, by making it easier to focus damage where aimed and create an ink path, we have made it easier to support moving to the frontlines.
For Torpedos, by giving more time to shoot them down, we have made it easier for players they are thrown at to handle them. Also, by making them easier to throw when aiming at enemies’ sides or backs, we have improved their usability for the players who use them.
For the Autobomb, we made changes to make it easier to take advantage of their trait of revealing enemies swimming in ink.
With the Angle Shooter, we made changes to make it easier to take advantage of its trait of affecting more distant enemies than other sub weapons.
For the Booyah Bomb, we have made changes to make it easier to take advantage of its properties even in fast-paced battles between experienced players.
The next update will focus on changes to the balance of battles based on long-term analysis of battle data.

Fixes to Player Controls
  • Fixed an issue with Splat Bombs and Autobombs thrown in Salmon Run stages or stages with moving terrain where sometimes the thrown bomb’s actual trajectory differed from the prediction line displayed when pressing the R Button.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player moving toward the screen quits holding a charged shot and returns to Inkling or Octoling form, sometimes the character’s orientation became confused.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player activated their special weapon while simultaneously performing repeated dualie Dodge Rolls while their remaining ink was low, sometimes a dualie Dodge Roll was performed after activating the special weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player performed repeated dualie Dodge Rolls or splatana lunges after doing a Super Jump, sometimes that player’s position on other players’ screens would be greatly misaligned and stay that way.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player activated a Big Bubbler while swimming on a wall, sometimes the Big Bubbler would be placed inside terrain.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player used Kraken Royale to charge from diagonally above at a Splash Wall placed diagonally by an opponent, sometimes damage would not be dealt to the Splash Wall even though there were no other obstacles.
  • Fixed an issue where, when an attack hit an inkrail start point right before the inkrail effect ended, sometimes it would appear as if the effect had extended even though the effect did not actually extend.

Other Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where, when players with certain hairstyles equipped the Captain's Cap Replica, their appearance did not display as intended.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a player tapped an amiibo to remember the Grand Festival while a Splatfest was active, on rare occasions the game would crash.

After such a long time, Angle Shooter finally got something! ...and it's a range increase. It's certainly welcomed, but I suspect it's an unpopular change because it doesn't address some of its issues, which is that it's difficult to hit with it (probably more difficult than a charger). I guess it being able to travel longer means it could potentially hit someone when it ricochets?

The two powerful post-update subs of Splatoon 2 looks like they get some balance changes, and I wonder how beneficial the Fizzy Bomb trail would be after this. I always thought that the (unshaken can's) trail is kinda thin so it's difficult to follow up on it.

I think besides the Splattershot (and maybe the Splatana Wiper), the main weapon changes are nice to see. Like Undercover Brella's canopy recovery, sometimes I like to use the base version for that Reefslider. Splattershot Pro receiving a slightly better accuracy is nice but I suspect it's still going to be outperformed by Squeezer.

All in all, a pretty substantial patch! I guess it helps there are no new content on the horizon so they can focus on making the game. I hope one of the changes they would make next time is to make Angle Shooter better in a way that makes it viable, and I guess Reefslider too.

Thank you for reading.

Booyah and splattershot buffs are odd. Otherwise good changes.

Given the timing I guess there goes any hope any hope of future seasons in any format. Will we ever get tricolor and big run in private battles?

Splatoon 3 is the second most watched game being streamed on YouTube right now, behind PUBG mobile (which has native options for streaming to YouTube that S3 doesn't).

Impressive. Are we in a Splatoon 3 "silver age"? Small, worthwhile updates, consistent popularity and an active playerbase.
Well, the number is fully carried by Japanese streams. There's a silver age, but it's entirely exclusive to Japan.
