Getting the impression Frontiers is gonna be interesting, but also that it's a bit like Pokemon Legends Arceus, a testbed for ideas that might work in a future game once fully developed.

Hey. Arceus is a great game. SF has a long way to go before it proves that to me I'd be amazed if it got 80+ Metacritic.

Yea Arceus reviewed well and was understanding of jank, so I'm saying I hope frontiers is treated fairly in that regard given that it's taking a big step forward for the series

Yeah I don't necessarily believe the dates are related, it is a bit suspicious but that's really it as far as I'm concerned.

It honestly sort of sounds like Pokémon Legends Arceus.

A very messy game overall, but it's foundation is so absurdly engaging it becomes way more than the sum of its parts.

I think I am on the cautiously optimistic train for now.

Can I just say how much better these players are than whoever recorded the IGN stuff too. I really can't believe someone at Sega was playing like that.

I wonder if the "Legends Arceus of X" will become a shorthand for "messy but revolutionary entry in X". Kinda like a lesser version of "BoTW of X" (because what we need are more comparison shorthands)

He doesn’t want to promise specific days the updates will go up because the last time an update was delayed he got a lot of hate.

The IGN footage may have been rough, but the more recent stuff, which seems to be from a more recent build, looks much more polished, and reinforces this as a game I will watch with interest.



Provided the final product's not an unfinished mess like '06 or Rise of Lyric, and that the Switch version is competent, I will probably end up buying it, and I'm not even really a Sonic fan.

There's room on my shelf for imperfect but fun games that try something bold and ambitious, even if they don't 100% stick the landing. This kinda reminds me of games like Xenoblade Chronicles X or Disney Epic Mickey in that regard.

Likewise Greg is cautiously optimistic, first 3D Sonic he is interested in. Of course that includes their unspoken impressions of the cyberspace levels I bet. They spoke roughly about how cool the story stuff was, having them “rip off their headset saying holy shit to each other” – edgy stuff where they “go there”. !!!

I am currently working on finding leaks with the Sonic Frontiers discord server rn. That is how I pieced together info about this game. So I am moving back and forth between applications. Sorry about that. We think news is coming this week, or next week. We just don't know if it's because of a hardware/direct announcement or something else.
