So LEGO Jurassic World and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes got late Switch ports and turned out great... which do you want to see next?

WB Games and TT Games have been on a role with releasing Switch-specific ports of to older LEGO games over the last couple of years. And both seem to be turned out great!

Here's ElAnalistaDeBits's comparison for LEGO Jurassic World on Switch, basically looking 1:1 with the PS4 version:

And here's SwitchUp's very positive review of LEGO marvel Super Heroes on Switch:

I'd personally like to see all the LEGO Batman games and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean make it over. What about you?

I have almost bought the majority of those games whe they drop to $6-10. My son and wife loves them.

I’d love to see Lego The Lord of the Rings come to Switch. I remember the bits I played on PS3 being hilarious, but never got around to finishing it. Would definitely see it to the end if it’s ever brought back.

Didn't realize LEGO Marvel 1 was this week too! I can't watch that SwitchUp video at the moment, does he mention if it hits 1080p?

Not mentioned, but footage does look too crisp/smooth to not be 1080p docked IMO. I hope ElAnalistaDeBits does a comparison for the game on Switch vs the PS3 and PS4 versions again.

Lego Middle Earth Collection. Combo of Lotr + The Hobbit.

They could even use the opportunity to finish The Battle of Five Armies dlc that they promised and then cancelled.

Problem with TT is the support they give to the games after release, thankfully those games turned out fine, that would be great if they went back to fix the already released ones

I wish Warner Bros was more willing to re-release the Pre Traveler's Tales LEGO games.
Imagine LEGO Racers on the N64 Switch Online app, or LEGO Island on GOG, or even a remake of LEGO Rock Raiders developed by Bluepoint! 🤩

I can't imagine there would be any rights issues, considering they were quite literally published by LEGO themselves.

That would be great news. I did notice the launch trailer that LEGO (or Marvel, one of them) posted on their YT channel topped out at 720p which may not be a good sign. Or sure if it’s like that on Nintendo’s channels.

I was mistaken in a good way. The guy says it runs "natively/native-res". but I doubt the guy measures pixels like the DF folks, but it is fairly easy to tell in portable mode I'd imagine (especially as it lacks anti-aliasing) if the pixels blur or are crisp like fried chicken.

I'd like to think it's 1080p docked and 720p portable. Really shows how far TT Games have come since their botched Lego City Undercover port (of ALL games...) on Switch. Plus both Marvel and Jurassic World were PS360 games so it's not that unlikely, but we've seen folks goof up such ports before.

Like with Jurassic World, the safe expectation is 1:1 with the PS4 and XBO versions which should be 1080p 30fps as well with no screen-tearing, as the JW vid showed. I don't know why the guy says the "other versions" of Marvel ran at 60fps when I recall seeing a demo on PS4 in person running at 30fps (a LONG time ago, like 2013/14 but still).

Plus as the vid showed, JW was 30fps and came after. So... maybe he was talking about the PC version...?

I want a full remake of Pirates of the Caribbean, an open world game similar to LotR and Star Wars 2022.

And as a new game I want a Spongebob one if Lego ever strikes a new deal with Nick.
I want LEGO Toy Story and I'm really peeved it didn't happen already. Toy Story 4 was the perfect time for it. But I guess they were too busy with the early part of Skywalker Saga to do it sadly. :(

TT Games were the primary Pixar game team in the 90's and did all the Toy Story games IIRC until I think Toy Story Mania on Wii (which was by Papaya Studio). So LEGO Toy Story was such an obvious idea. LEGO The Incredibles was a really odd choice as the prior games were by Heavy Iron Studios, in fact the first of which was their debut Pixar game IIRC. Hell, LEGO The Incredibles were by the TT Fusion team at that (which was basically Warthog), so not even by the core TT team that did the old Pixar games.

That’s a great point - if JW came after, is 30fps on both consoles and is apparently 1:1 with the PS4 version, then odds should be pretty good it’s Marvel is 1080p/30 too!

I can't remember if JW was officially 1080p on Switch but I swear it was said somewhere? I always assumed I remembered right. But hopefully it's the case. The comparison in the OP of JW looks that way. The Switch version looks the same as the PS4 I think.

Edit: Hmm, watching the vid again in the OP, I noticed some minor differences.

At around the 3:30 mark when the piggy shows up, you see the shadow on the wall is lighter on PS4, and (could be the timing of the recording), a shadow was moving on said wall on PS4 when you see the 3-way comparison of the zoomed out gameplay shot. Plus the vertical girder had more noticable jaggies on Switch, but maybe there's anti-aliasing on PS4 but not on Switch (usually is a performance eater).

But it's definitely clearer on Switch vs PS3, and has NO screen-tearing unlike the PS3 version, and the PS3 version looks more washed out vs. Switch and PS4. And of course a smooth 30fps on Switch and PS4 vs. whatever the hell is going on with the PS3 version (might be the screen-tearing causing the reader to go haywire).

Lego Marvel is def 30fps on XBone S but I don’t remember whether it was 1080p or lower res (I played through it 4 years ago).

I’d like Lego Batman 2 and maybe a fully 60 fps Lego Indy (it has horrendous screen tearing on PS3 unless you enable vsync, then it can’t hold a steady frame rate).

Interesting! I’m fine with some visual effect downgrades if it meant hopefully keeping a sharp image still.

Kinda crazy how there are some things not on the Internet when you’d imagine the answer to everything is...hopefully one of these days someone whose bought it chimes in somewhere with their impressions

We really need more Digital Foundry competitors. We have a number of folks doing framerate measurements (like the one in the OP), but very few doing resolution ones. There was one who did res and fps measurements for Pikmin 3 Deluxe, I'll have to check which it was.

Decided to get JW. It's 75% off yet again at $12.50 CDN/$10 USD on the NA eShop. Seemed the most appropriate time to grab it.

Agreed. I’d be much more interested in pixel counts than other FPS tests. Framerate (not the specifics but still) is a lot easier to deduce yourself than resolution sometimes when all you have to go off of is poorly compressed YouTube videos

Liking JW on Switch so far. Res does seem to possibly 1080p docked (it's clearer than taking a 720p screenshot shows), but the jaggies do hurt it. Shame they couldn't get AA in without sacrifices (fps or res). Framerate seems to be a smooth 30fps indeed.

The park open world feels big. You get a map of the whole island and it's massive. Remains to be seen if it's 100% seamless/open in it.

Cutscenes that use movie voice clips are often super compressed but thankfully that's the case on PS4 as well. Did TT Fusion just not have access to the raw voice files and had to edit direct movie audio to remove music from the dialogue? Plenty of new voice work for NPCs though, and all of those sound perfectly fine.

Game can be a looker at times. The open world (especially at the beginning area) is quite nice and shows TT Games/Fusion had a good handle on 6th gen HD hardware by then and does help having the Switch version be higher res.

What I actually want is a Lego City sequel that focuses on firefighters and other rescue services.
