Dachsbun as a defensive support set, immune to Fire and Dragon, sounds good. If Charizard activates Well-Baked Body that's a big defense boost for a Pokemon with base 115 Def, and the only Steel moves Charizard gets are physical. It may end up just being able to tank Charizard. I'm thinking the following for moves:Raids scale up in level per star level, Charizard is likely to be level 100 since 6 star raids are level 90. That means you'll probably want level 100 Pokemon to take it on successfully.
Sounds daunting, but once you get 5 star raids and can beat them (they're level 75), you can get a lot of exp candy to level up Pokemon quickly.
Dachsbun might be a great choice depending on what they give Charizard for moves.

- Play Rough
- Helping Hand
- Charm (if Charizard has a physical moveset) / Snarl (if it's Special)
- Yawn
That said, in terms of a more offensive presence, Azumarill seems like a good shout too. Resists Fire, immune to Dragon, neutral to Steel.
The biggest issue is if Charizard has some Sunny Day + Solar Beam combo, but if that's the case someone can probably just set up rain (both Azumarill and Dachsbun get Rain Dance). Might be worth running a Play Rough + Belly Drum chesto Rest set (fourth moveslot can be Rain Dance if needed, or maybe Light Screen). Depends how hard 'Zard hits though, using Belly Drum to immediately get smacked and faint is the worst.
For the sake of your own sanity, don't worry about doing the Charizard raid until you've finished the storyline. You'll have better options for getting strong Pokémon and raising them later. You can catch a Dachsbun now if you like, but you'll probably want to raise up a different one for Charizard anywayI’m thinking ahead to the Tera Charizard raid after just struggling with my son and a three star raid earlier. I’m going to need to build up a Pokémon specifically for that raid. I have no experience building Pokémon in the main games, so no idea what Pokémon and what type, and also how to level it up.
If someone has any tips for a training novice they would be
Much appreciated
Edit: I’m reading about Daschbun, I have a level 26 one with the Well Baked ability, but how do I know if it’s worth training up and how do I go about it? Just keep using it in battle?
There are multiple ways to assess Pokémon stats. If you don't know what they are, don't worry about raising anything for end-game raidsThanks for this.
I’ll keep on levelling up the Daschbun I have and try and get those moves onto it. I can’t work out how to know if this has got good stats, and what I need to do to level it up reliably
Coming from Go where I build up based on IV, this system confuses me
Yeah, high-end raids really do require you to understand the building blocks of how to make a Pokemon optimised - things like IVs, EVs and nature. If you don't understand these, you probably should try to find a guide. I don't have one to hand right now, unfortunately. I also agree that you should finish the story before looking into this, this is basically postgame high-end PvE content. For the sake of your own sanity, don't worry about doing the Charizard raid until you've finished the storyline. I might have said this before (and others too), but going "Open 3D" pretty much brought back level design into the series. Also, the path between Mesagoza and Artazon is some incredible level design work. It has two levels and a lot of nooks and crannies and has been a blast to explore.
It's crazy how GF has improved comparing to the brain dead routes in SwSh or even the terrible environment design in the wild area.
I felt a great disturbance in Paldea, as if millions of box legends suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. To have a chance to beat Charizard you would probably have to raid it with a group of people you know and are serious about it, right? Or would it be possible with randoms from the internet?
Won't know until we try, I guess. To have a chance to beat Charizard you would probably have to raid it with a group of people you know and are serious about it, right? Or would it be possible with randoms from the internet?
It will probably possible to do it with randoms, just be prepared to lose 90% of the time (or more lol).To have a chance to beat Charizard you would probably have to raid it with a group of people you know and are serious about it, right? Or would it be possible with randoms from the internet?
Haven't went to any classes(feels like high school all over again). What do you get for completing them?

You get EXP candies for completing the midterms, Idk what you get for completing the finals, and they also activate teacher sidequests that give you some Really Good Shit for completing apparently
History will mark special locations on your map that you can then fly to.
Languages will give you Galarian Meowth.
Math gives you 50 Rock Tera shards.
Art gives you 50 Dragon ones.
I forget the others.
Today is also the day you learn that Home functionality hasn’t been activated for Scarlet/Violet yetToday is the day I decided to use Pokémon Home to transfer some Pokémon Arceus mon over to Scarlet, today is also the day I discovered Pokémon Arceus did not have Save Cloud data saved from my previous Switch.
Damnit
Double whammy! Gives me a few days to play catch up phewToday is also the day you learn that Home functionality hasn’t been activated for Scarlet/Violet yet
Little more than a few days. It’ll be up in early 2023 I think.Double whammy! Gives me a few days to play catch up phew
It may seem obvious but it's an important attribute. Once you start doing a lot of raids you'll have a lot of Pokémon with non-standard Tera typeIs the Tera type icon in the boxes (white one under the gender icon) only there for eventual imports from other games for Pokémon lacking a Teratype? Because it even appears for all of my basic mon who have the same Tera as their main type…
For 5- and 6-star raids, you can get away with a good level 75ish Pokémon but you'll likely want a level 100. I've got a bit of a cheese strat I've been using that works well to anything weak to Fighting:I’m thinking ahead to the Tera Charizard raid after just struggling with my son and a three star raid earlier. That's an origin mark. It's used to denote which game a Pokémon came from, started in Gen 6. Pokémon need to have either that game's origin mark or a "battle ready" mark (currently unavailable, but will probably be made open when Home transfers or DLC are a thing) to use them in competitive online battles. Is the Tera type icon in the boxes (white one under the gender icon) only there for eventual imports from other games for Pokémon lacking a Teratype? That would actually make a very good defensive Tera type for an Umbreon. If someone is trying to hit your Umbreon with a super-effective Fighting/Bug/Fairy move, Terrastelize and all of a sudden you resist itI'm dumb. Caught a poison tera type Eevee today in one of those cool raids. But then I'm like, wait a minute, Eevee and its evolutions don't learn poison moves, so what was the point? Then I was like, oh, there's this new move called Tera Blast that every Pokemon can learn.
Yeah, it's basically Hidden Power 2.0 - stronger, viable for physical and special attackers, and much less arcane in its workings, with the caveat that it's Normal unless you've terastalised.I'm dumb. What's the point of catching so many Pokemon if you're only using 4-6 in a game with auto exp share?I’ve been catching one of every Pokémon I come across and I feel like I’m starting to get burnt out on it after a few hours. Battles just take way too long and they aren’t very much fun. I really miss the catching system from PLA, and even from LGPE. Collecting Pokémon is by far my favorite part of the games, and it’s still fun here. It’s just not as good as it should be.
Plus, it feels like my team is getting way too strong doing this. I absolutely obliterated the grass gym with a Corvisquire that was five levels higher than the leader’s ace. I one-shotted “Truleewoodo”. I’m gonna have to start switching out some of the team members.
ShrugWhat's the point of catching so many Pokemon if you're only using 4-6 in a game with auto exp share?
Completing the Pokédex. What's the point of catching so many Pokemon if you're only using 4-6 in a game with auto exp share?
I use way more than 4-6… I have a few teams I’m juggling between for different areas of the map, and I’m not even a competitive player. It’s just fun to try out different moves and of course work towards evolutions. What's the point of catching so many Pokemon if you're only using 4-6 in a game with auto exp share?
Mela’s not actually the first star base, oddly enough. If you already did hers, you’re going to stomp the other one. Not that that’s a bad thing! It’s just still weird to me they made her base so close to the east when she’s that high of a levelShrug
Catching Pokémon is the fun part for me. Battling is just whatever. I have started switching out team members now, but the problem I’m having is, despite catching 75 Pokémon, there actually aren’t all that many new ones that I actually like so far. I feel like there aren’t any permanent team members yet besides my starter.
Also, just did the first Star base and massive lol at Mela goose-stepping in her boots. That is ridiculous.
I think that's kinda just limiting though, I'm fine with larger parties being just something you can choose to do to give yourself more of a challenge/get to use more Pokemon in a single playthrough.Considering the massive advantage gained by just powerleveling one party I wonder if it would make sense to introduce some kind of fatigue system to encourage party swapping
You could do level flattening for bosses but that still gives the player better evolutions, moves, etc
For me the catching is more enjoyable than the battling, which is probably why I loved Arceus so much. I really hope that sub series continues if the mainline is going to continue focusing on battles. What's the point of catching so many Pokemon if you're only using 4-6 in a game with auto exp share?
I didn’t have any problem with her. I used a slightly under leveled Drednaw and used nothing but Rock Tomb. I used all its PP but Drednaw got it done no problem.Mela’s not actually the first star base, oddly enough. If you already did hers, you’re going to stomp the other one. Not that that’s a bad thing! I agree, but I think part of the reason (on top of how fun catching was in arceus) is that Pokemon vs pokemon combat has been the exact same thing since red and blue. They really need to change things up imo instead of just adding in gimmicks every generation.Yes, exactly this. Catching > Battling
It's actually changed pretty dramatically since Red/Blue. Special being split into SpA/SpD, the physical/special split being by move rather than by type, the introduction of abilities (that's a pretty huge one). Hell, even the odds of getting, and the damage multiplier of, a crit have changed, as has the general damage calculation formula.I agree, but I think part of the reason (on top of how fun catching was in arceus) is that Pokemon vs pokemon combat has been the exact same thing since red and blue.
