B-but guys, I thought this was gonna be the Pokemon killer! šŸ˜‚

Maybe this should set a precedent that games fueled by meme hype and ā€œsticking it to the manā€ wonā€™t thrive in the long term.

Or not. You know, maybe this scared the Pokemon Company and theyā€™ll be making big changes to the development of the franchiseā€¦

The next few generations of Pokemon will feature guns and Ai concept designs for the new pokemon!

I don't think this topic is going to go well....
of course not cause OP is being antagonistic.

Like I get it but....to make an antagonistic thread after the last one is just poor lol. This thread won't last long.

yeah, player counts for games tend to drop over time. it's still the second biggest game on steam

it'd be more notable if it had dropped to like, 20k or something

I wasn't interested in the game from the trailers or gameplay videos. I wonder how much of the hype really was from a "let's show TPCi that we deserve a better Pokemon" online campaign, I don't see that manifesting into longterm success for a new franchise unless it's actually a really fun and captivating game to play on it's own merits.

I've seen my friends play it, they're enjoying it, they're addicted. Clearly it's a good game, despite lacking an ounce of originality. Apart from the ripped off designs Palworld is very different to Pokemon.

Nah itā€™s been performing under not just CSGO but DOTA 2 as well for a few days, also it has dropped to 200k today

It was never gonna drop to 20k in two weeks, thatā€™s just unrealistic

The game made those meme bucks, for sure, but iā€™m failing to see the overall longevity that was touted for a week or two

Finally, they're going to follow standard Nintendo protocol and get MonolithSoft on board with the production.

while this is funny in the short term, it wont be long until some other shitty AI gen game takes it's place. The grift is still in it's infant stages

...Yeah? People stop playing games. Not every game lasts forever. This isn't exclusive to Palworld. Millions of people have definitely stopped playing Scarlet and Violet but I don't think that means Scarlet/Violet weren't successes.

I won't be satisfied until there are 0 concurrent players.

Tweet deleted for anyone else? Maybe that was bogus?
yeah but it was just a tweet linking this article

Didnā€™t even realize that was two days ago, and the game has fallen a bit further since then (especially today, has plummeted to the closest itā€™s ever been to 200k)

Is it also the biggest drop in percentage or are we just talking about raw numbers? Because basically every popular-game-of-the-month on Steam experiences this kind of drop and Palworld was obviously not going to be an exception. The question is whether the percentage of players dropping the game is the same as other big hitters or not.

Wow, there were 1.3m Japanese celebrities playing it?!

PUBG saw itā€™s biggest spike around a month after it had released , and that was the full release. This was more frontloaded

I mean it's not like it's a competitive game like PUBG/DOTA 2 so makes sense it'll drop. If it keeps a baseline of like Rust or something i think it'll be ok, prob depends on how often they update
Numbers are probably similar for Pokemon games and every other single player focused game - strong engagement at the beginning then it dies down as people beat it
