Gear.Club is actually pretty fun, this might end up surprisingly good.

Grandpa & Grandma Smurf, Smurflings including Sassette won't be there due licensing problems. Peyo estate and Warner Bros don't want to work together again so they're probably never coming back.

Already ahead od the direct, dammit. I trust them, the Garfield karts games are above other racing games with exception of MK

They delayed BotW 2 because Nintendo needs to learn from Smurf Kart

I want this to be an asymetrical game where one player gets to be Gargamel, towering over the track trying to fuck with the smurfs.

No E3 this year is crminal for this games absence alone. Would be so hype to see this in theaters at Sonys prsentation
and hearing the audience go wild.

Really tho. Looks kinda fun and the Smurf franchise has potential for really cool stuff.
A Pikmin like game would be cool for example. With different Smurfs having different abilities and so on.

Holy fucking shit. I have waited ages for this.

Cancel BOTW2. Throw my Switch out the window. This is all I wanted.

And you thought Smash had bad female representation! Though maybe this is the best game ever since it’s every possible character?

Do the smurfs even have cache anymore? I guess if Garfield can get a kart racer so can the Smurfs.

Unironically looking forward to this I love the smurfs. All you people in this thread making fun of my little blue children are going to bitterly regret it when we personally find out where you live and take over your front yard singing lalala songs until your ears are melting.

Also while we’re on the subject, Mission Vileaf is a pretty legit 3D platformer, check it out~

What is that even supposed to mean, iirc Warner Bros only own the rights for broadcasting the 80s cartoon show within the United States, in terms of characters they don’t own jackshit.

Smurfs are forever.

Some characters were created by Hanna Barbera, not Peyo and exclusive to the tv show. Later Peyo and subsequent artists incorporated them into comics without owning them. Now Peyo estate and Dupuis are working with Sony and don't have access to some characters: Grandpa and Grandma smurfs, Smurflings and Gargamel's aide Scruple.

It would appear that kart racers are a very popular choice for a spinoff (thanks to Mario Kart, of course). Wonder if we'll ever get an Asterix Kart at this rate (Microids also published an Asterix game before). There was a recent comic called Asterix and the Chariot Race which is about a race so it won't be farfetched to have an Asterix "kart" game.

Thank you for reading.

...No? What is your source for any of this?

Knowing those devs, I can feel the input lag already. Hopefully I'm wrong and this turns out to be a good kart racer.

Director talked about this in an interview on the movie Smurfs The Lost Village, when asked about the absence of the Smurflings. I'll try to Google the interview.
Well if you do find it I’m interested to read/watch the interview because it’s the very first time I’ve ever heard of this. I tried asking around to my online smurfs friends and they have no clue either. Strange that Baby Smurf, who also first appeared in the 80s show, wouldn’t be affected by this.
