Golden Sun TLA my fave game all time but honestly I don't think there is an angle for Golden Sun to thrive in the current day. I would love to be wrong but yeah. In battle class changes due to magic casting + top tier dungeon design feel like hard features to sell a new fantasy RPG on. But yeah Air's Rock forever.

In an ecosystem like Switch's where niche RPGs can find pretty decent success proportionate to that kind of title, I think GS stands a chance.

But it depends what system it comes to. We'll have to see if the next Switch is as kind to these sorts of games as the current one, or within the same realm.

It was a long day, so I decided to take it out on Excitebike.

Surprised many people have it on their "top 10 NES/Famicom games" list, especially with more impressive racing titles like the RC Pro-AM series.

Yeah, a number of early NES games really aren't that great, including Excitebike, Ice Climber, and obv Urban Champion.

Its really something that can be chalked up to "above standards for the era," much like vehicle performance and home computers. What captured people's interest at the time was a system capable of playing games graphically identical to their arcade counterparts, unlike Atari's 2600 DK port.

Excitebike is a great game, and this isn't a boomer 80's kid talking, this is someone who discovered the game thanks to Animal Crossing in the 00's.

yeah i object to lumping excitebike in with urban champion and ice climber, those two barely function. excitebike is a good time.

Geist and Ever Oasis have not been mentioned and should get back, still my dream would be Eternal Darkness comeback with the RE Engine, Nintendo should hire Capcom to do it.
