StarTopic Nintendo Switch Rumors and Leaks Archive |ST| Rumor Has It...

frog

Spin it, boys!
The purpose of this thread is to archive rumors and leaks related to Nintendo Switch hardware and upcoming games. This is a continuation of the previous rumor archive threads on ResetEra started by ReyVGM and Lelouch0612. The following conditions will apply before a rumor or leak is added to the archive:
  • No rumors from individual insiders on Twitter, ResetEra, or other social media websites. Previous rumor-centric threads on other forums were criticized by some insiders for putting a target on their backs. Such rumors can be discussed in the Nintendo General Discussion StarTopic or their own threads e.g. the Metroid Prime remaster/remake thread. This archive will focus on rumors from credible publications (written articles, published YouTube videos, etc.; not forum comments, tweets, podcast asides, etc.) and leaks from ratings boards and retailer listings.
  • No anonymous 4chan rumors unless they are confirmed after the fact. 4chan tends not to be a credible source.
  • No Direct rumors until they are confirmed. Please keep rumors about an upcoming Direct in the Nintendo General Discussion OT, regardless of credibility.
  • No Smash Bros. or Pokémon rumors. These rumors tend to be inaccurate. Such rumors can be discussed in the Smash speculation or Pokémon threads. If a credible Smash Bros. or Pokémon rumor is found, then make a new thread. These rumors may be added to the archive following confirmation.

Examples of what will and will not be archived:

Will be archived:

Amazon UK lists X game for Switch.
Korean rating board has rated X game for Switch.
Eurogamer reports that X game is coming to Switch.
Bloomberg reports new details about upcoming Switch hardware.

Will not be archived:
X person said so and so in passing on a podcast.
Someone claims Nintendo Direct will occur on X date.
X fan-favorite character joins the fight!
Pokemon starter images found on Discord.
Any unconfirmed 4chan post

I don't see the problem with holding insiders accountable and keeping track of their leaks. Obviously harassment is bad, but just for record keeping purposes it'd be useful to see who said what and when. For example, a lot of the misleading, or outright false, Switch Pro rumors from insiders are going to be swept under the rug without a good archive.

It would also just be interesting for historical reasons too. Would be neat to see a record of old Emily Rogers rumors from the Wii U/3DS era and to see how many of them panned out or morphed into future plans.

I understand plans do actually change and the whole nature of leaks like this are games-of-telephone. But avoiding another Switch Pro situation would be great.

The problem is it allows people, especially people in the industry, to get a much better sense of who these people's sources are and those sources can then be fired or even sued.

So in effect all it'll do is prevent insiders from even saying anything in the first place.

you can keep record of Emily/Nate/etc. rumors on your own if you'd like to keep tabs on who said what and when, but I'm not going to do that on a public forum post, especially when said folks have previously asked for that not to happen on the ResetEra rumor archives

This is a thread I appreciate. Kind of nice to see a collection of all Nintendo related rumors under one roof in case I miss any. I to hope the Donkey Kong game is real and it would be awesome if it's in 3D. Kirby was a nice surprise for me from the Direct as that is looking ace.

I just hope it's 3D
I'm pretty open for whatever. The most important thing to me is the part of this "younger crew" aiming to truly honoring the Rare saga and bringing back K. Rool and his crew, as well as DK's extended family.

As much as I enjoyed Tropical Freeze, it just wasn't the same for me.

Let's see who will have the most score in this thread. Contestants are: Brazilian, Korean and Taiwanese rating boards. Leak more games and win more points!

Thanks for bringing this thread over; I really appreciate your ongoing work of keeping track of these rumors. I loved randomly checking this thread to see what rumors had been confirmed true/false.

Can‘t see the urls even when I‘m logged in. Is this normal? Edit: Ah I see, I needed to post here. Anyway nice work op.

I don't like the idea of "ranking the insiders". Insiders are almost deified when they get things right or shat on and insulted when things happen the other way. The love/hate relationship is weird and unhealthy and caused many people with hinsight to leave...
Imo, it would be nice to have some kind of official leak account where people verified by the mods could animously spill some beans...

I dont agree with Bloomberg being wrong because Nintendo and Zynga said no they are wrong. Because obviously they aren't going to say they are right either. But otherwise good list ;p.

It's beyond "holding them accountable" many people got straight up harassed off of era. Not to mention how people acted towards them because they did not believe the Grinch leak was real. You also have the users that intentionally change what the insider is saying to make them seem wrong which happened with some of the switch pro talk.

I love the rumors!!! Most of them, from the listings at least, turn to be true most of the times 👀. I'm eagerly waiting for a new "GameStop is listing twenty new untitled games for switch... Same as Amazon..." Type of rumor

Play Asia listings are usually just placeholders right?
Unless otherwise confirmed, yes. Online store listings are generally not trustworthy (if it's about retail SKUs for already announced/released digital only games, those are more reliable; wholly unannounced stuff I would note but otherwise disregard).

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires on February 15, 2022? For the Nintendo Switch!?

Sometime in fall 2023

Yabuki: "Well, I hope you enjoyed all of the Booster Course Pass! Thank you for playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! By the way, there is one other thing I'd like to show you! Please take a look..."

But seriously, what else has that team been up to? Surely MK8 Deluxe DLC can't be it?

So... Are we getting those Batman games or not? It's been 8 months. It's either canned or moved up to Switch pro...

The collection has been rated. The game is some way along, but I think the WB Discovery merger could've delayed things.
No it didn't. It only appeared at French retailer WTT, who also leaked Ezio Collection and The Witcher. There was no rating at all.

Nate also backed it but provided no additional info.

I don't think the merger affected things at all, Multiversus just got released last month everywhere but Switch.
It is also possible that they have delayed it to not coincide with the release of Gotham Knights
I very much doubt that. They didn't eve announced it. I think it never existed at all.

Something does not need to be announced, it can be delayed internally

Even so, it is quite common for leaked games to take a long time to be confirmed, including those filtered by ratings and lists.

I mean, If Batman Arkham Knight is the one causing problems, they should have released Return to Arkam, a collection of first two games by now and date Knight for 2023. But I don't think this is the case either. WTT appearance means it's close to release, as with any other game they leaked. I think this time WTT made a mistake.

I don't think they were wrong, what I do see as plausible is that it has been delayed internally.

But there's no reason to delay the first 2 games, Switch can easily run them. They should have released them as Return to Arkham Switch by now if Knight is the one causing problems.

We need to ask Nate about it, he knows something about the collection. @NateDrake is Arkham Collection still a thing or got canned? Or never existed at all?

Nate said the collection on switch is happening, I don't think we need to ask him about it again. And the internal delay, you do not contemplate that maybe it is not only arkham knight who needs more time

anyway, it's a matter of waiting for it to be announced sooner or later.
