I feel like the “next smash” is going to be a LOOONG ways away. And when it does happen, it’ll be a reboot, with a massively streamlined roster. I don’t think they can do another “Everyone is Here” ever again.

That said, I also wouldn’t rule out a Fighters Pass 3 happening a few years down the road? I dunno, I know they made a big deal of Sora being THE “FINAL” fighter but I dunno… I can’t imagine a world where these character packs aren’t massively profitable? I can see them going back to it once Sakurai has had a Smash break.
Yeah I'm of that opinion as well. Smash Ultimate is problem the most expensive game Nintendo ever made as its continuous dev time of main game and DLC lasted for roughly 6 years, big team involved and of course licensing. Getting the Everyone is Here was surely no easy task, mainly for the likes of Cloud. Now imagine if they "just" rerelease Ultimate with all the DLC? Or make a complete edition? That alone seems impossible just because of Sora. I immensely doubt Disney would let that happen, let alone not demanding royalties for game sales. So yeah it really makes sense Sora, Steve, Banjo and Hero only came as DLC, that made licensing way easier.
I wonder tho how a next entry will look like. Surely a reboot, but we never know how that will be received. The "everyone is here" before Smash that I can think of is Mortal Kombat Armageddon, and that was kinda shitty as all characters were just generic and didn't even get each a fatality. Then there was that vs DC Universe, and then the reboot was well received. If they shake up the formula and maybe have a massive story mode then I think it'll do great.
In the near future I would really love it they just randomly announce another Fighters Pass like in 2023 but I'm afraid that they really mean it this time when they say Sora is the last one.

I might be crazy and making this up, but does anyone else remember around E3 someone saying that Mercury Steam was already finished with Dread and moving onto their next project? It may have even but Emily, but I'm not 100% sure. Nonetheless, I wonder if it is a pre-existing property they are working on now, or even possibly another Nintendo property. Considering how well Samus Returns and Dread have turned out, I could see MS being one of the studios Nintendo wants to keep close (like Next Level pre-acquisition).

I absolutely adore Xenoblade but I don't think I'd be a good rep, as I'd be constantly talking about the reasons why Xenoblade X is better than the other two and would make so many people mad. I will therefore not be seeking a nomination to run against you for this position.

I remember hearing some chat about how the game was basically already finished at the time of the reveal, but I don't recall hearing anything about MercurySteam working on their next game.

Sakamoto did publicly say, though, that while Dread marked the end of one aspect of the Metroid saga, he had plans to follow up on it. It wouldn't surprise me if EPD 7 and MercurySteam are considering plans for another collaboration in the Metroid series.

There was definitely talk about "the team" working on its next project before it was officially revealed that it was MercurySteam.

Anyways I'll take the L for thinking IGN would give Dread a low score.

Funny to see Gamespot score being lower than IGN.

I've been rushing through the Metroid titles I either didn't play yet (Zero Mission) or the ones I didn't play in a very long time. I usually like to take my time when I want to play through a series, but Dread has had me hyped in ways very few things can do. I'm running through Fusion now and I can't wait for Friday. It's gonna be a blast!

I remember hearing about that too but it turned out not to be true (at least to an entire extent, they were probably at least in pre-production for the next game) because there have been a lot of changes from E3's trailer to release, displaying that they have continued to work on the game past E3. I do hope Mercury Steam becomes a mainstay Nintendo partner ala Next Level Games like Starphanluke mentioned. Maybe even acquire them too 👀

Thinking the NSO expansion pack update info will just be a random Twitter/video drop in the next week and a half or so per NSO Trends

Does anything with Pokemon Sword, Paper Mario and Dread require Switch Online? Mine lapses a few weeks ago, but not sure if it's worth getting another year.

“The N64 and Genesis controllers are now available for purchase on the Nintendo Online Store”

*bloodbath ensues*

Question for anyone that has bought the NES or SNES controllers from Nintendo. How fast is their shipping? I know they haven't announced details yet but I'm hoping that if I buy the controller in October I won't get it in December.

The controllers being exclusive to NSO members should ease it. So far I’ve had zero issues with any of the controllers as long as you order it within the first day for the first round and they came back in stock pretty often. I think we should be good!
