StarTopic Marvel Cinematic Universe |ST| The Eternal Universe

Haha, everyone hating on She-Hulk is nuts. The final ep is hilarious.

- She Hulk, smasher of bad guys, bad endings and Matt Murdock :3

- When are we getting the X-Men? Thumbs up to audience

- Lol showing Skaar in such a low key way

- Wong being friends with all these weirdos including Blonsky is oddly wholesome.

Tatiana is fantastic. Hope she appears in the movies too

So I've been live-reacting to a bunch of the Marvel shows but I lost it with She-Hulk because it just broke me.

My brain is mush.

I love this shit so much. That finale was completely unexpected and fuckin incredible.

Moar plz

After seeing She-Hulk ending and leading by rumors I think Cap 4 movie will heavily involved Hulks, The Leader and get first appearance of Red Hulk wit Harrison Ford as Hurt re-cast. I imagine the events of Cap 4 will lead to Thunderbolts. In addition, it would be no surprise that we will also get Torres Falcon as Sam new sidekick and something happens to Bucky that gets recruited with to Thunderbolts. I think after Thunderbolts we will see something regarding Bucky and Yelena.

I watched Werewolf by Midnight, is there a special (hehehe) reason they called that particular show a Special? Or only just because of it's length?

Also, was it supposed to take place in the modern times or not? Aka could we expect a reappearance from those characters in another series?

Well as Blade exists in the MCU, which means that vampires are a thing, I wouldn’t be surprised if Blade contains Easter eggs towards Jack or Man-Thing.

Also, potential for a Midnight Sons movie

I’m in. An Ant-Man movie that doesn’t look boring as heck is very exciting.

Kang's "What's it gonna be... ANT-MAN
is giving me strong vibes of Joker's
"Isn't that right... BATMAN"
from the Snyder trailer 😅

Seriously though I'm jazzed

Question for those who've seen Wakanda Forever:
Could yall actually, like, see anything? Almost the whole first half of the movie was so dark I could barely even make out the characters' faces. Was the projector in my theater just too dim or did Marvel pull a Game of Thrones s08e03?

Outside of the beach scene in the evening with Ramonda and Shuri, I don't remember there being any dark scenes. Might have been your theater.

Dang, yeah that scene was bad but also when they went to Talokan I genuinely couldn't see shit. And the scene in Riri's shop. And during the ancestral plane scene. And that whole bike/car/proto-Ironheart chase. Sounded cool as shit though.

Okay so it wasn't just me LOL
Like I could follow the movie fine, but it was so noticeable that the movie scenes stayed very dark.
I think I have occasionally seen popular twitter posts saying that movies nowadays do excessively use darker/dim tones so maybe it was just a direction preference. But yeah I wish it was a bit easier to make out the scenes.

I think Wakanda Forever might be my favorite MCU movie (barring Avengers Infinity War and Endgame).
Like, pretty sure it's my fav "standalone" movie now!

The Guardians Christmas special is fun

- Mantis getting lots of screentime. She is funny but kind of scary too
  • Drax being Drax, got a few chuckles out of me
  • Peter’s response to the song is great
  • Cosmo is cool!
  • Mantis and Drax on earth is hilarious. Drax punching that Go-Bot 🤣
  • Kevin Bacon was great in this
  • Mark Hamil cameo!
  • Rocket getting Bucky’s arm for Christmas 😂
  • Yondu being cool again :(

I was forced in to a 3d viewing so that didn't help, but at one point the film says something like "we were attacked by blue people" and my immediate thought at the time was "those were supposed to be blue?!?"

I will avoid any 3D viewing of somthing that it's not created specifically for 3D lol.

Definitely would have too, but the cinema near me (Germany) was only showing the English dubbed version with 3D for the first week and a half or so, so it was that or the Deutsch dub.

The Shenmue anime has me bored, ngl.

Of course, it's only been the first episode...

Should I continue watching?

Just popping in to say I am, in fact, still super hyped for Quantumania. I've been rewatching the two main trailers over the past few days just for the music alone. I keep forgetting there's just a couple days left!!!

Oh god work has been really busy this week and I haven't even tried to get tickets yet D:

Might catch a Saturday or Sunday matinee tbh. Still interested in the movie myself.

I saw the reviews for Quantumania are up on rotten tomatoes, the top review is counted as a negative and says "I will never unsee MODOK."
I dunno about yall but that sounds like a positive review to me. 🤷‍♂️

I'm seeing MODOK's ass everywhere oh god. Anyways this one didn't work for me, kinda wish they stuck to the tone of the first two, and made MODOK and AIM the main villains tbh

I expected to see a lot of things tonight, but Hank Pym advocating for socialism wasn't one of them.

Huh, that's fascinating. I guess this is the lil scoop Daniel RPK had and locked behind his Patreon earlier today.

I fell off so hard of the MCU post Endgame, despite being excited for phase 4 at first. Only Raimi's return behind the camera for Dr Strange 2 (despite being furiously restrained, it still had so much super fun Raimi shit and quite some heart in its climax resolution), the very fun Shang-Chi and, surprisingly, the Hawkeye show (it did took inspiration from one of the best comic book of the last decade after all) really did it for me. Oh and both specials, the Halloween and Holiday ones ! Great, fun stuff !

But shit I'm so hyped for GotG3. This is gonna be so good. I'm honestly kinda expecting it to be a real closure for me for the MCU.
I'll still watch it, but emotionally I won't be there anymore, I'll just grab the popcorn and consume from a distance whatever they throw at us. (Kinda scared of the non-sense that will be their Secret Wars adaptation tbf, the obvious cameo-fest it will be might just be insufferable to me)

Just rewatched GotG 1&2 before going to watch 3 this Wednesday, and fuuuuuck, so much feelings in those films... It just hit me that Yondu's death is still so much more impactful than, say, Black Widow's death or Vision's or whoever even though we barely saw Yondu and that we thought he was a piece of shit for most of the time we saw him. So much heart into those films. Even if I love me some Infinity Saga MCU (not all of it though), I agree with Scorcese's sentiment that it's just some (fun) emotion-less theme park. But not the Guardians...

But then, wouldn't that mean you don't agree with him? The Guardians, while they could absolutely be their own franchise, kinda feels from what I've read like a thing that would not have happened without a strong push for it from a producer as powerful as Feige and the MCU in general existing.

I don't see how that contradicts that sentiment though !
Cause I definitely agree with him.
Doesn't mean that some stuff don't fall into that box. It's not ALL Marvel films.
Scorsese said he likes Raimi's Spider-Man for instance lol, which already was co-produced by Feige.

I think people just took it wayyy too personal and as a bad thing. Theme parks are fun. People just misinterpreted it and ran with it as if Scorsese said "it's just films for the low class", as if Scorsese wasn't one of the most prolific modern popular drama director lol. He actually makes films for the people, not some elite, high art films ! He never said MCU shouldn't exist or whatever, so I don't see how that makes me not agreeing with him.

The fact that Scorsese called Marvel movies not cinema might have stung some folks, but if your read his long love letter to movies, I get where he is coming from.

Dunno if I would label it so much; at the end of the day, movies are a fun waste of time for me.

Anyway, can’t say I’m into the MCU as much; I still like it, but post Endgame only No Way Home and Wakanda Forever have been really good/fun to watch. Shang-Chi is sweet, Dr. Strange was cool because of Raimi. The series are a bit hit and miss (Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel are fun) and I dunno, in retrospect the sheer perfect storm that was Phase 3 made the MCU even more impressive.

I was just so let down by Black Widow, Eternals, Love & Thunder etc.

Still, I’m looking forward to Guardians 3, got my tickets for this Friday.

The "Marvel isn't cinema" stuff is a thing I've actually come to understand after a while. My dad will basically only go watch action movies, and he'll usually go to Marvel movies and they'll be the closest thing to sci-fi that he'll stomach, but eeevery so often we'll get a more artsy drama or something come around and I'll love it, and my dad won't understand why. And I'll tell him "I love movies that are just about the characters and their stories."

I think in those moments I am, in a very soft way, saying what Scorsese meant. You have movies where the point is the big mainstream spectacle, and then movies where the point is the story and the people and the way it's shot and scored etc.

I could get into a whole thing about AAA games vs indies here, too, I think I have similar feelings there 😅

But basically yeah, I get what he meant. And I think I agreed even if it took me a while to realize I did. What kills me is how, as per usual, The Internet took it and turned it into another form of gatekeeping, another line drawn in the sand regarding whether you're a "real" fan of this or that. And that exhausted me. Not Marty, but that.

And I fuckin love Marvel movies. I've been enjoying Phase 4. Massive apologist. And even I get what he's saying.

You all gotta watch GotG Vol. 3, I cried so much.

Real closure, this is my Endgame. I feel so empty now. It was beautiful, it was incredible. So much feels in this trilogy...
It really makes you feel REAL closure for the Guardians, just as what Endgame felt for the Avengers of the Infinity Saga.

It'll probably end up as my favorite MCU film to be honest. (My previous favorite was GotG2 so it's not really surprising lol)

Buckle up though, and maybe avoid going to watch it on the big screen with your kids if they're under 10 or so. Neither the Guardians, nor the bad guys nor Adam Warlock fuck around in this film, real brutal stuff coming from everyone lmao.

Some mature themes (animal testing and tortures mainly) and some gore-ish representations (a bit of grotesque body horror, and quite a few legs, arms and even heads being teared appart lol. The animal torture isn't shown directly but you hear it and you see the consequences of it)

Yeah, Guardians 3 is the best Marvel movie since No Way Home, easily.

Spoilers down here!

-I really like how it’s Rocket’s story. As in you know, heartfelt, down right mean, evil, but lighthearted as well. His journey as a character has been great and I just love the fact that he just sings along with Star-Lord’s tunes.

- Adam Warlock.. was wasted. What a bummer! Really disappointed. He made me laugh a few times, but he felt like fluff here. Oh yeah, he was teased in Volume 2, so here’s him I guess.

- The High Evolutionary was a screaming nutjob who had a god complex, that’s about it. Kind of felt like Ronan 2.0. Ego was the better villain in the trilogy.

- I did love the fact that Quill and Gamora aren’t a thing. Quill letting go of her is great growth. Still good to see that traces of the kind Gamora are still there.

- The movie had its laugh out loud moments, but it was definitely the darkest Guardian movie. The thing between Drax and Mantis is funny. Peter’s heartfelt speech to Gamora was hilarious (“It was painful!”) and well, I just love the fact that Nebula actually went full Guardian. Mantis is a loveable doofus.

- Groot saying “I love you guys” made my theater go “HE SAID WHAT”

- Nathan Fillion being a loveable moron is glorious.

- Cosmo is a good dog!

- Rocket leading a team with Groot, Kraglin, Phylla-Vel, Cosmo and Adam is awesome. Come and get your love playing was perfect.

- Star-Lord on earth is actually sweet. Him returning in the future… almost everybody is coming back for Secret Wars, aren’t they?

I think we'll see Star Lord probably in Kang Dynasty even. Probably going to be a rather major player for the good guys in both movies. I've seen people joke about Sam Wilson recruiting him for his team in Captain America 4 lmao, not gonna happen but the thought is fun.

I saw GOTG 3 recently. Definitely the best since NWH.

I think Adam Warlock is one of my favorite newcomers in the MCU, and it goes without saying but the rest of the cast is great too. The humor was funny and fitting.

8/10!

I agree.
I see many people not liking him, only seeing the "baby" in him.
What I saw mostly in him was the pure beast and savage that he is lmao.
Dude wasn't fucking around. Wherever he went, he went for blood.

Guardians 3 spoiler

I think the theory is at the end when Groot said I love you guys he was still saying I am Groot but we, the audience, are hearing what the Guardians are hearing when he talks for the first and maybe last time as the I am Groot is still too iconic to get rid of permanently

they expected Bosslogic edit Adam, and not early "HIM" era Adam.

Yeah it's definitely that.

They even have Gamora repeat again and again in the film that she can't understand what he says, until she finally magically understands him all of a sudden. Because she became a Guardian, they became friends, family to her. And it's the same for the audience.

I totally agree on the Adam part. It felt like they had set him up at the end of 2, but then didn't know what to do with the character. There is a theory/rumor going around that the whole firing/unfiring of Gunn lead to two scripts and other changes. No idea if it is true or not.
