I’ve played each course twice in 150cc, once in multiplayer and once in single player where credits rolled (which were quite good!), so I’m ready to share early thoughts. This was a great batch of courses and I love that sound test was added. I haven’t seen much of the new characters and while I wish Dixie made the cut I’m glad we got more than expected.
Rome Avanti - This is a very twisty and engaging course. I wish the colosseum floor was a little cooler, but other than that I’m quite pleased and I’m eager to learn it.
DK Mountain - I’m glad we got this one. Parts of the descent I like more (the top portion especially), though the final two turns leave me a bit wanting even if they largely get the job done. I also don’t like the new volcano. The basic one in the Wii version was perfection.
Daisy Circuit - I wasn’t asking for this one back, but it’s a solid course with a good vibe. The shortcut jump really rocketing you upwards now is cool. Wish we got Bowser’s Castle Wii instead.
Piranha Plant Cove - I was most excited for this one walking in and it did not disappoint! It’s a really interesting layout and makes a great case for why more city-like tracks under normal themes would be great to see in the next Mario Kart.
Madrid Drive - This is another great city course and I love how active it is with a lot of hazards. The music is great too! Excited to play more of this one.
Rosalina’s Ice World - I didn’t need another ice course (the dearth of beach courses stinks) and I wasn’t really asking for this one either, but this is a solid course. I like that the ice pulls away in lap 2 and the opening and final stretches are both solid each.
Bowser’s Castle 3 - Finally! Finally! A second Bowser’s Castle! I really like how they remixed this one with the different elevations and took a few liberties with the big final turn. Very glad this one was added, it’s great!
Rainbow Road Wii - I don’t know if this is as tough as the original, but this is an awesome course and they virtually did it justice. The layout is really engaging and by making it smaller it forces you to be more exact. This was my 2nd most wanted choice for the Booster Course Pass (first was Koopa Cape) so I’m thrilled it made the cut. What an excellent finale.
I have 655 hours in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so far and have no plans of stopping until the next Mario Kart arrives. I’m so glad the Booster Course Pass reinvigorated and expanded my favorite Mario Kart game and now with 96 tracks, this is truly the ultimate Mario Kart game. I’m of course still hanging around in this thread, but I just want to say it was a blast hanging out with all of you in this thread. Sharing this DLC journey together made it truly special
