Discussion how many countries have you visited

I've never left my time zone

I always felt bad in university when people casually talked about visiting Europe...

18, according to my scratch map. Although “only” four outside Europe (Australia, Japan, Mauritius and the US). I assume living in Europe helps to boost up the counter given the size of the countries and the ease to travel between them

Only 1, though I hope to change that at some point.
I would be disappointed if I don't get the chance to explore more of the world at some point.

22. Though only two of them are outside of Europe (Tunisia which isn‘t too far off from Europe and the US). When you live in a small country like Switzerland or generally in the Schengen Area it happens pretty fast that you find yourself in another country.

41, depending on how things are classified. Plus a few other areas that aren’t technically countries but would be considered overseas territories.

The US
The Bahamas
Dominican Republic

I’m admittedly not well traveled. I really want to see a lot more. My wife and I are planning an Italy trip so that’ll be fun. But I’d love to do the whole of Europe, or as much of it as I can.

Around 10 or so, but basically Asia + US + Australia. Planning to finally visit Europe at some point.

Unpopular Opinion but many of the must have seen places in Europe are overrated. Especially Paris. I imagine it‘s different when you live there, but from a tourist perspective or having to change trains there when going to the UK, it‘s the worst big city I’ve visited so far.

Hmmm... requires some thinking!
Born: Ireland

North America:
Canada; USA; Mexico; The Bahamas; Turks & Caicos Islands; Dominican Republic; Puerto Rico; St. Lucia

Europe:
England; Wales; Denmark; France; Spain; Germany; Austria; Italy; Switzerland

Asia:
Japan

Africa:
Kenya; Tanzania

South America:
None

So... 20? Not great, not awful. But I visited most of these between 16 and 25 years old, have barely travelled at all in the past decade, which sucks. Life just slows down. Really need to add to this list again. But my trip planned this year... is to France.

EDIT: This isn't counting stop-overs or overnights. Otherwise you'd add Netherlands and Ethiopa and all kinds of places.

EDIT 2: Favourite place? Japan.

I live in Norway and have been to:
  • Sweden
  • Denmark
  • Greece
  • England
  • France
  • Germany
  • Poland
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • USA

  • Canada

Also gonna go to Japan with a friend later this year (most likely) so looking forwards to that!

Been to:

  • UK
  • US
  • Sweden
  • Denmark

  • Turkey
  • Greece
  • Spain
  • Portugal
  • Cyprus
  • Cuba

Want to go:
  • Netherlands

  • New Zealand
  • Ireland
19 countries in total, not counting occasional stop-overs and day trips in places like Luxemburg, San Marino and Vatican City.

Sweden (home country)
Denmark
Norway
Germany
England
Ireland
France
Czech Republic
US and A

not a frequent traveller, and with kids (one of which has special needs) it's a bit harder to travel as well. Though we've sprinkled some trips and will continue to do so.. also had a couple of weekends with some friends over the years to.

I didnt really start to travel a bit until I was in my 30's which was also the time we got kids so I kind of missed my best opportunity to travel a bit.

If I could re-do my 20's I'd travel a bit more, I would 100% do interail trip in europe and spend a few weeks of the summer on that. It's something I do regret not doing.. also had the chance to go to Australia but did not take it for whatever reason.

yeah, if I went to Europe it'd be to see The Netherlands and Switzerland (because I'm an infrastructure-oriented person)

Spain (where I live)
Argentina
Belgium
Uruguay
Portugal
France
UK
Netherlands
Italy

I might be forgetting one or two but basically this.

From the UK. About 20 or so? I traveled a lot in my 20s. Been to various places across central and NA, Europe, Africa, SE Asia. Having a kid has meant I’ve explored a lot closer to home over the last few years though.

Total of 6, Growing up my family used to travel a lot of states within the US, would go on a plane trip yearly when I was small. Japan is where my family is originally from, so we went there a couple times to the Southern parts. Europe travel was more recent. Will probably travel to Asia (Japan, SK, HK, etc.) again within the next year or two

  • Georgia
  • Alaska and Hawaii (yes that's still US but different enough to be worth mentioning maybe)

I've visited Canada, Mexico, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Japan, and England.

So, eight countries if you count the United States where I live.

I want to visit Ireland.

Oh hey, we're at the same number 😄🤝 (assuming you counted your home country as well)?

I have only visited Canada. Niagara Falls, to be precise. Long before all the casinos and tourist stuff popped up. Before you needed a passport to get in to Canada! Truly a beautiful place, especially at night with all the lights on.

Live in US, but I've been fortunate to travel overseas a few times to Austria, Germany and Italy. If you count airports I was technically in London once, but that doesn't reeeeeally count to me lol.

So four total, including the US.

Not that this is a comparison thread, but I found Europe to be way more pleasant in terms of public transport options and quality of living things (like how a lot of sidewalks in Austria had a very clear lined pavement meant to help blind people get around, more ramps for wheelchair users, cleaner subways/train stations). I found public transport to be waaaay easier to navigate in Europe than I do in America, and that's with a language barrier included!

Also, this is the most American fucking thing I've ever said, but the fast food in Europe is really good. Like, seriously. If you like fast food at all and ever get the opportunity, try McDonald's in a different country. They do it up so much better and more consistently than America, where it's a coin toss if your food will be fresh or not.

That said, I prefer how America has a much bigger focus on indoor temperature control.

If I could have the walkable cities and excellent public transport of European cities I've visited combined with the cushy shit I like in America like AC in most buildings, I would have my paradise lol

I’ve been to a few European countries, the US and Mexico, and Mauritius.

Always wanted to go to Japan, ever since I was little, but haven’t made it yet!

This is really accurate. I couldn't believe how crap McDonald's was in America. It's no wonder people over there shun it for other options.
