Hardcore Gaming 101 have an excellent article about this momentous release, but suffice it to say, it's a genuine piece of Westone and SEGA history that was once thought to be truly lost forever; that's finally out now to buy on your Nintendo Switch! :D

And having played through it myself now? It's a lovely, short n' sweet little co-op platformer with oodles of charm, great action gameplay and absolutely beautiful sprite art (it's easily the best looking SEGA System 18 game ever made; feels more like a long-lost SEGA Saturn game!). Well worth a pickup not just for fans of the classic Wonderboy arcade games, but for anyone looking for a solid, true arcade-like action platformer (even though it's definitely on the easy side).

You might also want to check out Ultracore. Which is a similar story.

It was originally planned and cancelled all the way back in 1994, Before eventually being released and finished in 2020 for Switch.
Particularly notable is the fact that Digital Illusions CE developed it back then, who are of course now noted for making the Battlefield series.

I have never heard of this, and am absolutely buying it as soon as I can. I have been on a year long kick of playing through classic arcade games so this will be a treat!

I ordered the physical release of this from Strictly Limited Games a bajillion months ago and have heard nothing about the release since. I'd sure like to play it but uhhhhhh maybe some day if that shows up.

Oh, Westone you say? I wonder what they are? Have they done any good games?

(If you can't understand the sarcasm by my avatar, you should really check out the Monster World games.)

For YEARS we had almost to no information on the game rather than single screens and sparse artwork. I'm talking, like, almost three decades. The fact this game is now coming out makes me very happy.
I'm just sad I don't have a Switch. ): I hope they'll release it on PC at some point.

Imagine working on a game more than 25 years ago just to see it released in 2020. Something lkike that blows my mind. But I'm all for it. Seeing this and Clockwork Aquario (and of course Star Fox 2 on SNES Classic) makes me believe it is possible there are more games that get to be released finally form the 16 bit era.

Still waiting for my copy to be shipped to me. Strictly Limited Games has been a bit hush hush about the release...

Fortunately Japan gets a physical release.

I've double dipped on PS4 and Switch collector's edition.

Haven't received either yet, but looking forward to this. Getting vibes of Drill Dozer from the graphics.

Ohhh speaking of which, I just got shipping confirmation!

Now to wait for it to cross the ocean and get to me...probably a few weeks.

And then I have to wonder when Monster World IV Remake is getting to me lol

It's short (less than an hour for one run through) but damn it is addictive to play. Such a beautiful game (the pixel art on the bosses are insanely good) and the soundtrack is full of bangers. A real blast to the past.

My physical copy finally showed up and yeah the game's pretty fun. I really enjoy Westone's games and the art style is super good.

I received my Japanese copy last week and have been playing it with my 10 year old niece in co-op. She is really enjoying it because the mechanics are simple and the graphics are nice. It's a good game for quick games, reminiscent of the arcade style of the original game.

Maybe a patch is needed to polish certain defects in the detection of hits and jumps, but it is perfectly playable.

The game is on sale for $12. Folks who bought it, did you end up going back to it a lot? Did the experience stick with you?
