If all it takes is one reddit rumor with a paragraph of unverified foreign text (unverified in terms of facts, fluency or if it's even legible) to derail this thread, I can see why people would keep trying to stir the pot by starting false rumours on twitter/reddit/youtube.

Very disappointing to see a Fami poster do that. Has anyone gotten in touch with this person? Because frankly, that's an ingore list worthy action in my eyes

Sure - but again, I was trying to use the activision discussion as a jumping off point for talking about how the community operates in what is likely it's final, busiest 6-8 months.
I’ve been following along since this thread’s origins in Era, through the OLED reveal disappointment, ToTK launch alignment, all of it, oftentimes daily…and seeing it put this way was pretty wild to read.

After observing this thread for a few months I can definitely conclude that the second most common topic in this thread next to the hardware discussion and speculation about the release window is ice cream talk, I'm unfortunately a huge basic bitch who only wants chocolate ice cream with big brownie bits inside and nothing else, that's my favorite ice cream 😋 Any ice cream with hard bits inside though like crushed up pistachio actually hurts my throat, so screw pistachio and M&Ms ice cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he made it very obvious what he was doing with the price of the chips, we are going to get a lot of false rumors over the months ahead, so personally I hope people are taking this as a learning experience, it would be another thing if he was trying to make a fake rumor people might be able to believe, but $1 and $2 SoCs on par with the PS4, people who believe that, should just wait for the reveal.

Also from a tech side, 4SM would still be enough to do DLSS, that is 12 tensor cores, it's more than I expect Drake to use for 4K, though clock would matter I guess, but yes it was meant to be fake and personally I'm disappointed in some people in this thread who didn't spot it right away.

Except we've already been seeing false rumors in the months past. So IDK who this would be a learning experience for, all it will do is bring us another 5-10 pages of frenzy - doesn't matter if it was dismissed as fake from the very beginning, we all know it means another 5-10 pages of nothing but drivel that none of us can do anything about.

It's not like we needed a Fami poster to help, we already have been seeing a steady stream of fake rumors before that without any help from inside.

The ABK stuff is old & has been discussed to the point of exhaustion months ago & wasn't the content I was referring to.

The Reddit post citing a Korean translation is obvious bullshit.
This should have been everyone's reaction to that "leak".

This thread somehow manages to recognize when something is bait but still latch on and discuss it for pages on end, it makes this thread unbearable to read sometimes
Part of it is Brandolini's Law i.e.
"The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it."

Why do we bother? Because there's inevitably people reading this thread who aren't familiar with the tech that take them seriously, growing anxious at the possibility, so it's just best to clear the air.

It's crafted in such a way to serve a narrative. "Lower" model number indicating "downgrade", no DLSS, Nintendo being "cheap", fanfic drama about their fallout with Nvidia, etc. Even has a game of telephone with a Korean publication -> Twitter -> Tweets being deleted.

If someone is predisposed to think Nintendo will go with the 'cheap' option and doesn't know much else, this becomes more credible in their eyes, despite the obvious details like 512 GPU cores and no DLSS being an essentially worthless next-gen upgrade for multiplatform ports.

The best ice cream flavor is Rocky Road, you fools!!!

expect 10x as many leaks as we have had, it's not far off from 2024, and at that point the dam will have burst, we are only watching the cracks form on the side of the thing, get to high ground. These type of posts will hopefully make people realize that most rumors should be ignored, and if we are going to waste 10 pages on buttons, who cares.

Perhaps I'm being naive here, but...... how do we know if it isn't someone impersonating @Ghostsonplanets? They seem to be a regular of this thread and should understand the code of conduct. Would they really be foolhardy enough to pull a stunt like this, knowing the ramifications, even if it's for shits and giggles? I might be too keen on giving them the benefit of the doubt, but still. I think we should wait for them to explain themselves, should they actually be the culprit.

Okay.. I guess I question the value of that exercise. Let's see if that actually helps for future rumors but I'm skeptical, lol.

It's really not that deep guys, he is shitposting to reddit, it was picked up here and actually discussed because of his name, which I think he didn't foresee happening, probably should have just posted to 4chan, but the reality is that we don't control the internet, we know it's fake and we should move on from it, if you want an answer from the user, DM them, you could always put them on ignore, though I don't think they plan to continue to do this, it is clearly meant to be fake or he would have made the price of the SoCs ~$30.

Industry relationships don't just "fall out". This isn't some friendship, it's a business relation, things take time and plans change internally, but not to the extent of scrapping entire hardware all out of sudden due to pricing, something that can be every easily discussed, especially in the NintenVidia relationship, as we do have Mariko units which use "different" Tegra X1 chips for no much reason (and yes, i am aware they are cooler and do run a tad bit better, but the units that use it don't need it, just benefit from it). It was likely easier on them to produce [and probably cheaper too].

Either way this is just some entire made up thing lol. Very clever to use their business names on the stock market to add some "reality" to that leak, but eeeh. Smells super fanfic-ey. Let's keep the good & meaningful discourse instead!

Then what does that make us?
me? someone who laughs at clowns.

Pretty sure Famiboards was clowned instead. Here we are discussing this 3 pages later. Thumbs up! ;)

I think we are discussing the user and not the leak, which is why I even care. They seem to try to contribute to the discussion and I appreciate that.

I saw the Reddit comments you screenshot from him. I'm sorry, but the mistake he made is thinking /r/GamingLeaksAndRumors is going to learn from this. That's not going to happen, lmao.

Perhaps Ghostsonplanets finally snapped from all the insanity of the past few weeks, went insane himself and suffered amnesia? This is so weird.
It's not weird, it's trolling.

It's a pretty clear lesson on why taking the word of random people with no track records and no helpful context is a bad idea.

it'd be great if users, or well a specific user, were a bit better about what they post here. Sometimes this thread gets turned into a reddit thread itself.

If we're all in favor of looping to another topic, how about launch games, again?

I've said this before, but I think Nintendogs could be an interesting launch (or launch window) title. I could see the dogs (and possibly other animals) look very realistic and the game could be a great showcase for improved Joy-Con controls.

A new AAA Madoka Magica adventure game by Bandai Namco to tie in with the new movie releasing along side the Switch 2.
This is not Copium

It's a total pipe dream but I've always wanted Nintendo to respond to all those UE4 'remakes' of OOT with a full blown FF7R style remake of the game. Just imagining a midgar level recreation of castle town is enough to get me excited for such a prospect. Shame they'd never do it though.

Nintendogs would be great indeed!

Maybe Ridge Racer 8 as well, which has been rumored to be in development (again) according to Necrolipe. Perfect game to show off the capabilities, as it did for other systems in the past.
