Quoting my own post:Im a bit of a PS3 fanatic so lemme just give a brief explanation:
The OG fat PS3's branding was black with red accents (and the ps logo was red, yellow, blue, green)
Both hardware revisions branding were black with blue and black ps logo.
Also for a very brief period some PS3 games had a blue banner, and it looked a bit like the vita boxes
The pictures I found:I looked up some pictures and mostly the default color design was white for Wii and Black for PS3 as you said, but the accent colors were blue for Wii (the console box had a bit of blue elements and inside the two boxes where alle the hardware was placed in was blue. The controller and disc drive LEDs also were blue (the disc drive LED always looked really cool to me).
The PS3 boxes were black (with a red stripe), white (PS3 slim, also with a red stripe which) or blue (super slim) and the controller LEDs were red. Some PS3 disc boxes also had one thin red stripe beneath the PS3 text/logo.
So I think that is why for me Wii and Wii U (which looked mostly the same as Wii from packaging and from the LEDs) always was blue and PS3 always was red.
Neither. So are we yea or nay on the factory leak?
I doubt the base Switch Successor will have an OLED screen. Personally I could only see it being as high $500 if it did.I am beginning to doubt Switch 2 will only be $400. OLED is already $350 so we think for $50 more we will get this new monster machine full of our hopes and dreams? It feels way too good to be true. I'm really starting to predict $500.
Sure, I'm still not convinced that a $100 gap is doable for Nintendo. Believe me, I would love for this thing to be $400. I'm just not so confident that's possible when looking at the list of specs and features supposedly in this.I doubt the base Switch Successor will have an OLED screen. The Switch OLED could potentially get a discount once the Switch Successor releases, so the difference in price may not be $50 by then.
Neither.

Stirring a cauldron…
It doesnt have to mean they ever make a 120fps game, but thanks to that panel they could make 40fps standard.120hz I doubt. If only because I highly doubt even a single first-party game would ever target it.
Others have mentioned it but if they do a SKU without a dock, I think it's possible to hit $400.Sure, I'm still not convinced that a $100 gap is doable for Nintendo. I highly doubt they would do a SKU without a dock. Especially if the theory around streaming from handheld to dock is real. Either way the new console will need a new dock.Others have mentioned it but if they do a SKU without a dock, I think it's possible to hit $400.
Then they could do a SKU with the dock for $450 or whatever.
Yep, especially since its confirmed the new dock has a fan in it.Either way the new console will need a new dock.
Ooh, 40FPS as a standard would be really nice.It doesnt have to mean they ever make a 120fps game, but thanks to that panel they could make 40fps standard.
It would probably cause problems/ inconsistencies when Switching.Ooh, 40FPS as a standard would be really nice.
Likely true, unfortunately. I don't know how that sort of thing works well enough to judge how feasible it is, but it would at least be nice, if it were.It would probably cause problems/ inconsistencies when Switching.
If it runs at 40fps in portable, how is the game supposed to know what display mode to run when your docking it?
It has to know if the docked display supports 40fps, and on the fly decide to run at 40 or 30 fps.
I don't see how this is anymore complicated than supporting resolutions higher than 1080p or supporting HDR. You can't guarantee what modes the TV will support, they have to be detected when you dock and the game adjusts accordinglyIt would probably cause problems/ inconsistencies when Switching.

The point of 40FPS is to be a natural middle ground between 30 and 60. And whether I "need" 60 depends heavily on the genre, personally.I will never understand the hype about a 40 FPS mode. I'd rather not have a higher resolution and graphic details if I could get 60 FPS in return.
I think for most people, the point of docked mode is that they're playing it on a TV.If they don't do this then we'll be stuck on 1080p/60fps docked and at that point I'm not sure what the point of having a docked mode is at all!
All the docked mode is supposed to do, is to compensate for a larger screen with lower pixel density. People might have noticed if you didn't do that, but won't notice if you do. That's the point.I think for most people, the point of docked mode is that they're playing it on a TV.
I don't think the average consumer pays much attention to any performance boost.

Switch 2 because it has 2 screens! /sI think the factory leak is probably real and the reason why Nintendo might have been seduced by the formal "Switch 2" name is because it still allows some playfulness by also using is it as "Switch to" or "Switch too".
Or because its an obvious pick, that would cause noone to wonder if its a revision/ new accessory for the switch or whatever. Well yea, if it really is switch 2 they made the best choice, calling it like "super nintendo switch" or something else would've made parents think it's just an upgradeOr because its an obvious pick, that would cause noone to wonder if its a revision/ new accessory for the switch or whatever. Idk and i hate the idea of double screen unless we can do a reverse wii u situation and still use the dock normally for 1 screenWhere exactly did the 2 screens thing even come from, was there just like an OG fake hardware leak a while ago that thought it'd be a cool idea or something or... because it keeps popping back up
You cannotSwitch Tuah
That sounds terrible, how do I delete this?
You hook up the 2 screen switch to the dock and it displays squished together like a ds emulator on the tv obviouslyIdk and i hate the idea of double screen unless we can do a reverse wii u situation and still use the dock normally for 1 screen
It isn't exactly a complex name for marketing. [CONSOLE] 2 is a tried and tested name with Playstation and basically every other object that isn't a Nintendo or Xbox system, so it isn't bad, and the marketing potential is kinda insane (albeit rather basic).I think the factory leak is probably real and the reason why Nintendo might have been seduced by the formal "Switch 2" name is because it still allows some playfulness by also using is it as "Switch to" or "Switch too".

Yeah, the fact that everyone immediately named the successor "Switch 2" in their head shows that it'd be fine lol
Switch Tuah

Still think it fits just right. Every other suggestion has kinda made me roll my eyes a bit, simple and effective imo.The only reason most people refer to it as the Switch 2 is because that is just a lot easier to say than successor to the Nintendo Switch.
Dunno why it's still so "outlandish" if Nintendo would name it Switch 2.
...
So, why not just "2" for once?
It wouldn't change anything for me, because I already have an OLED TV to which my consoles are connected and I play 80% in docked mode. I've always preferred the immersion that a large screen gives me. Also, from experience with both video games and TV series and films, I can also say that HDR is definitely more appreciable on a TV, so even if the Switch 2 screen doesn't support it, I wouldn't make a drama out of it. The thing that makes me feel calm and positive about the Switch 2 is that this time it really has so many arrows to its bow in terms of technology. It's a console that will definitely and generally perform better on a 4K TV than its predecessor. The resolution, reconstructed with DLSS, will always be high enough, so you don't risk having to display 720p or lower on a large 4K screen. With Switch 1 it happened, then of course the artistic style in some games made even those games look beautiful. For example, Yoshi runs at 720p, but it's still beautiful to look at. In any case, the Switch 2 will already be in a better position from the start, and for many who want to play primarily on TV, this is great news!Would y’all wait for an oled model if launch sku isn’t ? Or get it anyway but keep it permanent docked
