Software:
1. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 2,537,292
2. Splatoon 3 - 36,958/3,368,155
3. PS5 God of War: Ragnarok - 9,901/39,278
4. PS4 Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten - 9,066
5. NSW Tactics Ogre Reborn 7,687/44,470
6. Minecraft - 7,449/2,855,406
7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 7,330/4,906,589
8. NSW Cardfight Vanguard : Dear Days - 6,649
9. NSW SympathyKiss - 6,072
10. NSW Sonic Frontiers - 5,837/31,904

This is definitely a Pokemon week. Aquaplus new game lands with a thud. MK8D reaches 4.9 million, Kratos turns out to have better legs than Sonic.

Hardware:
Nintendo Switch family (includes OLED, Lite and OG) 170,693 (this week), 4,001,390 (YTD)
Switch OLED 102,605 (this week), 2,311,711 (YTD)
PS5 (all varieties) 31,858 (this week), 917,162
PS4 5,803 (this week), 6,920 (YTD)
Xbox Series 1,527 (this week), 252,401 (YTD)

Big week for Switch with sales of all models up from last week, OG might still have limited stock, OLED doing big numbers off the Pokemon OLED. Sony does respectable numbers with both the PS5 and the PS4 which had it's best week this year by far. Microsoft still having some stock issues it appears.

Pokémon sold through 4M units in three days. That's a 170M launch in US dollars.

I have no figure to compare but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the fastest-selling cultural good in the history of Japan.

After week 47

2022:
4.00 million
2021: 4.69 million
2020: 4.84 million
2019: 3.36 million
2018: 2.32 million
2017: 2.41 million

How do those Monochrome Mobius sales compare to previous Utawarerumono games? That seems pretty bad.

I still need to try it myself when I'm done with some other recent releases but I still don't really get what they're going for with the new style. It doesn't look very appealing to me.

3. PS5 God of War: Ragnarok - 9,901/39,278
5. NSW Tactics Ogre Reborn 7,687/44,470

A remake of a 20-year-old SRPG outselling God of War (at least for a brief moment of time) feels wild. I know massive install base difference etc etc, there’s reasons for it, but still.

really bad. 56K for the first, 82K for the second
Holy jesus that's bad. Just kind of surprised that this is the game they came back with.

Oh well hopefully at least it's a good game. I'll find out eventually. Aquaplus can't be pleased, though. It's a really great series and this type of release just makes the whole thing feel so uncertain going forward.

I wonder if we’ll ever see Utawarerumono on Switch, and if we do, will it even be localized? Monochrome Mobius is PC only in English.
They have a backlog that surprisingly is still not on switch (they were releasing Vita games in 2018). Mobius is an odd duck, cause its localize but the people who are bringing it to pc only work on pc games. So there is no one to ported to playstation. NIS usually has handle the ports and they are drowing in Falcom games (good lol).

Sounds like a weird setup they got that’s not very well thought out

The funny thing is, Falcom which is known to be one of the most stuborn one regarding Switch... has mellowed and now goes all in supporting Switch as their financial situation is just not good.

While Aquaplus which is smaller and has been bleeding in sales as well in recent times... stays on the lane on PS exclusive and remain in that bleeding zone. Crazy time.

I hope we see Dragon Quest X one day, l like the look of it.

Huh, didn't expect this to sell this much, though, would've done better if it didn't launch a day before Pokemon.

Well, that was quick.

Someone at Aquaplus must have seen that comment and be like "Oh, right. The Switch. That's a thing that exists. How silly of us to forget".

That's the second Utawarerumono spin-off on the system. Still no word on mainline titles, though.

They are taking that Compile Heart Nepu Nepu idea lol.
All spin off on switch

Nada on mainline games. A great strategy. Lets see how it goes lol.

Yeah, it's weird, isn't it? You would think that if a company can't (or doesn't want to) commit a lot of resources towards Switch ports of their games they would focus on the main titles, since those are usually the ones that sell the most units.

Even more bizarre, other companies have done something similar with certain IPs. Dead or Alive? The fighting games are missing, but the pervy volleyball game is on the Switch. Senran Kagura? Not for you, Switch owners, unless it's a crossover or a weird spin-off. Tomb Raider? Nope, but the "Lara Croft and..." games are on their way. It's just strange.

DoA i can see as DOA 6 has been total mess and disaster for Koei so no one wanted to touch that project.

But for Compile and Senran? I totally agree.

The Senran Kagura director just entirely giving up on the main series because he can’t put it on PlayStation in his vision anymore drives me nuts because Estival Versus was a Vita game. The Switch can definitely handle the series.

The dude literally went "This series can only work on PlayStation" while talking about an IP that debuted as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive and downright torpedoed his pet series' future by doing so. That will never stop being funny.

Like, I can understand why the series moved from 3DS to Vita (even though I think Deep Crimson is the best in the series,) but trying to keep it a PS4 exclusive once the Switch came around just never made sense to me.
