The news itself

Synopsis:
"After the Golden Kingdom is sunk underground by an insane magician, its king emerges, promising all of his treasure to any who defeat the magician, before crumbling to dust. Guilds are spurred on by this promise, traversing the labyrinthine dungeon in search of the magician. Laios, the leader of one such guild, encounters a dragon that wipes out his party and devours his sister Falin. Despite having lost the entirety of their supplies and belongings, Laios along with Marcille, an elven healer, and Chilchuck, a halfling thief, immediately reenter the dungeon, determined to save Falin.
Time being of the essence, Laios suggests the taboo of eating the monsters of the dungeon as a means of gathering supplies. Upon the preparation of their first meal in the dungeon, they are stopped by an onlooking dwarf named Senshi. An enthusiast of monster cooking, he helps them prepare their monster ingredients for safe consumption. After learning of Laios' circumstances, Senshi expresses his desire to cook a dragon and joins their guild, thus beginning their food-filled foray into the dungeon together."

Dungeon meshi is my favorite fantasy story ever made. It manages to be funny, exciting, emotional and mysterious (sometimes all at once), with some of the best world-building I've seen in this media. While the synopsis may just sounds like a silly story, the mange goes much, much deeper than that (both literally and figuratively).

Also, it is devoid of what I would call "weeb shit". In the sense that it never uses any of the cheap, obnoxious anime/manga trope that we all know (hot spring episode, female character being sexualized out of nowhere etc....)

Now you may think this title is hyberbolic or even clickbait, but it is the truth. Anyone disagreeing will receive the harsh punishement of not getting a yeah from me.

That's a weird way of spelling Golden Kamuy, that one's had an anime for a while :p

Despite hearing wonderful things about Dungeon Meshi, for some reason I never got around to reading the manga. Will definitely have to check this out

New key visual:

First trailer

The music is made by none other than Yasunori Mitsuda, wich means Xenoblade fans are now forced to watch it.

I love how much subtextual queerness there is in the manga. Or it's more that the whole thing has really queer vibes. I can't explain it.

Anyway, skeptical but still excited for the anime.

My favorite japanese band is doing the opening of my favorite manga!

Also 2 cours confirmed.

Well I can positively say for a manga I didn't enjoy, the anime didn't make it worse.

Dub actress for Marcille nailed it. Great casting.

Thank God Netflix are doing this weekly instead of just dumping the whole season at once.

"Dungeon Meshi, the greatest manga of all time, is getting an anime by studio Trigger"

Seriously though, them's fighting words...

Greatest manga of all time...

I should at least watch the show...

I'm so basic but it's got to be said: this ain't Berserk, bro.

No, but seriously, I've been wanting to watch this anime for a long time, but I'm never in the mood to buy a monthly Netflix fee :/

I'm only now looking at this realizing it's Dungeon Meshi... I always thought it was spelled with an N for some reason. Dungeon Menshi

Don't mind me

It's the basic pick because it's the correct pick. <3

On topic though, my buddy recommended this to me. Gonna dig into it this weekend. Excited to start it!
