StarTopic Creative Endeavors |ST| Flex your art muscles

I appreciate the kind words. Like seriously, and the constructive feedback.
I think ultimately I wanted to created a troubled protagonist that has some clear flaws with how she perceives the world, where part of her troubles are by circumstance but also her own doing. I'm interested in seeing how you see her evolve through the rest of the story. The demo only covers the first four chapters out of sixteen, so expect it to go places. I think despite the scuffness of it, I've done well to establish a tone/vibe of it, so thank you for that.

I built it in Tyranobuilder. I don't require extensive programming knowledge and is akin to snapping lego pieces together.

I think if I ever want to learn coding/programming, I'll make the jump to Ren'Py, but for now Tyranobuilder does what I need it to do on a basic enough level.

The art assets are a combination of stock images heavily edited in GIMP, or hand-painted canvas IRL for the more surrealist pieces. Mono is a portrait I painted IRL. The Boy is a picrew asset I used, it's mostly a placeholder until I buy more canvas and hopefully paint him too.

The music are basic melodies I slapped together in Ableton, and I sampled two or three songs I really like.

Tyranobuilder is something I've never heard of, but it looks really simple and easy to manage, which is great.

Good luck in the future!

My friend gave me chords and a melody to work into my VN's leitmotif. He's playing guitar on the second one, and I arranged the piano piece.

I haven't done much on GrΓΆgol Bonanza since releasing the demo β€” getting combat nailed is gonna take quite a while β€” but in October I've got a session with a known musician that I deeply appreciate to work on refining this track:

This is just the draft so far. This is for Asha, the final boss of one of the possible routes / tangents.

She's the head of what I'm internally calling the "sport route" β€” basically, if you ignore a solid 3/4 of the game, you can play it like a "regular PokΓ©monlike."

She's basically in the "PokΓ©champ" slot or whatever... but she cheats!

Anyways, that's another little GrΓΆgol Bonanza tidbit for now.

Don't forget to try out the really basic wandering-around demo if you'd like!

Actually, I said I hadn't been doing much with the game so far, but that's not entirely true!

I made a trailer for the demo...

Worked on the GrΓΆgolpedia and Folkidex...

and added a creepy little bonus GrΓΆgol called Birthdavis that can only find you on your birthday!

Oh I had forgotten this thread was a thing. I should catch up with the shared stuff. I share my stuff in other threads occasionally but I’ll wait until checking other people’s stuff before re-sharing mine. πŸ˜…

Hehe this is neat, I'm curious about the musician part. You're getting like live brass for this? It'd be super cool.

Used a fuller instrumental set for this. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Sounds good, a pretty melody. As some feedback tho, all the delays/reverbs/effects you inserted start getting kinda into the way of each other eventually. It's pretty fun that you're making your own game, I'd love to have the skills needed for that haha.

Here are the protagonists of my visual novel, finally in a reasonable phase.

I'm probably going to adjust the entire visual style of the VN to work around the new designs.

Hello friends. I didn't realize this thread was for anything other than visual art. I'm primarily a writer and an actor, but Ive been fiddling with a little video game. I started a thread for amateur/indie game dev but it was suggested that my post be better here. So here is some bad gifs of my little game.

Here is a little gif of me testing collision detection.

And here is my little guy. I'm not a visual artist, and drawing this little guy, as much as he's just "downrezzed NES Link" took a lot of work. I have a little story for him, and hopefully I'll eventually have a little game.

I start lots of projects and I'm trying to be better about finishing them, so I'm trying not to get too caught up in making this game good, so much as being able to say I made a game.
